What are you thankful for?

Once a year, usually on Thanksgiving Day, I take the time to write a letter to God, thanking Him for specific things in my life.  Sometimes, I'll look back and it's been a rough year, but I still see His hand and kindness.  Usually I end up crying and praying for a long time, realizing how blessed I truly am.

What about you?  Will you take some time and tell us a few things you're most thankful for this year?  If you want to leave a comment below, that's great.  Or if you prefer, just sit alone with God and make it a letter between only you and Him.

It feels good to be thankful:)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Lisa

Favorite Thanksgiving Recipes

If you're pulling our your favorite recipes today, why not share them with the rest of us!?  If you have some extra time between mashing the potatoes and stuffing the bird, leave your fav recipes in the comments section.

Here's my favorite thing at Thanksgiving:

Aunt Linda's Wonderful Cranberry Salad

Dissolve 2 small boxes of raspberry Jello in 2 cups of boiling hot water.  Then add one cup of ice cold water, and refregerate for about 30 minutes.  While the jello is chilling, stir together 2 cans of whole cranberries, one can of drained mandarine oranges, onc can of drained crushed pineapple, and a 1/2 cup of chopped pecans.  You can change the amounts to suit your tastes.  I love pecans and mandarine oranges, so I use a lot of them:)  Add the yummy fruit to the jello and let it chill overnight.  Then I like to cover it with Cool Whip eat it all!!!  It's my favorite:)  Gobble, gobble:)  Lisa

The K-LOVE Morning Show is moving to Indianapolis!

Between now and early December, there is SO much going on in our lives.  I wanted to share some of it with you, so you can pray.  And because you're our friends.

We are very thankful for all God is doing in our lives.

So...here goes:)

The K-LOVE Morning Show is moving from California to Indiana!  Now in case that confuses you because you thought we lived right there in your town...

We are actually at the EMF main headquarters in Rocklin, California.

EMF (the Educational Media Foundation) is the parent ministry of K-LOVE and our sister station, Air 1. Both morning shows on K-LOVE and Air 1 originate from California for the entire nation.

So here's the deal...

In order to be heard on the east coast at 6am, we have to start at 3am Pacific time.  Since I joined the morning show in March, my family has had to do a lot of adjusting so I can get up very, very early. With a 1 & 2 year old, you can imagine how interesting life has been at our house:)

We are so thankful.  Because of the generous support of our listeners, God opened an amazing door for EMF to purchase a radio station in Indianapolis for K-LOVE -- 101.9 FM, complete with great studio facilities!  This now gives EMF two primary locations in America--California and Indiana.

Having some of our staff in Indiana will make it easier for us to be at more events all over the country.  We're really excited about the chance to be at more K-LOVE concerts and events.  Maybe we'll get to meet you and your family someday!  We would like that:)

You shouldn't hear a change at all.

But OUR life will get a little more normal and we'll get to spend more time with our families in the evenings; This is a giant blessing to us!  We're so thankful to work for a ministry that cares so much for its listeners AND its employees.

Being in Indiana will be great for my family, since it puts us much closer to my husband's family in Illinois (the grandparents are THRILLED), and we'll only be a day's drive from my family in Louisiana. It is the same blessing for Eric and Julie's extended family in Chicagoland.

So, so, so many demands and details come with a move! Combine that with the holidays, and you can guess how we are doing:) If you've ever moved, you know!! Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers during the transition. Between now and early December, we'll be packing, shipping, moving, and setting things up in our new homes and studios.

Leaving friends and our amazing churches in California is really tough, but we believe we are following God's leading.

And we believe God is getting ready to pour through EMF to reach more and more people in America! The world needs the good news that Jesus is alive, that God has a plan for their lives, and that there is more to life than just living and dying.  Christians need encouragement to stay strong and grow.

Thank you for your love, prayers and support for this mission.

Life is an adventure!
God rocks!
Pray for us!

in Christ,
Lisa

"You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16 The Message

Pigtails and her K-LOVE sweatshirt :)

K-LOVE Morning Show news anchor Amy Baumann was on the news last night!  You know how it is...

You're just trying to rush into a store with the kids--no makeup, pigtails and a sweatshirt.  And a newsperson in the parking lot wants a quick interview.  And suddenly you see yourself on the nightly news!

She answered the questions with typical Amy Baumann honesty and candor.  After watching this, she wants me to assure you that her kids ARE safe :))

Nathaniel's Hope

Children with special needs and their families are so inspiring!  My friends Tim and Marie have created a way for you and I to reach out with the love of Christ to families with "VIP" kids.  They have some incredible ideas and resources.  To find out more about Nathaniel's Hope, click on the picture below.  Today is the 8 year anniversary of Nathaniel leaving earth for heaven.  Please pray for the Kucks today, and for their ministry to flourish...  blessings, Lisa

Nathaniel Timothy Kuck, “A Treasured Gift of God,” was born on June 6, 1997 prematurely with multiple birth anomalies including Duodenal Artesia and Craniosynestosis. He was said to have an undiagnosed syndrome. Surgeries, therapies, sickness, and hospital visits all became a normal part of his life.

After proving himself to be “a miracle boy,” beating the odds time and again by overcoming many physical obstacles and challenges on November 13, 2001 at an early age of 4½ years old, Nathaniel relocated to 777 Heavenly Lane. His purpose has been fulfilled, and he has now returned back home to his Creator. At his new home, he is no longer physically restricted, bound by surgeries, feeding tubes or braces, and he is now free to run on the streets of gold.

Nathaniel taught us that to each life there is value and purpose. What may appear to be imperfect in the eyes of humans, really is perfect in the sight of God. He taught us about the meaning of “unconditional love,” perseverance, and he was a great showcase of God’s faithfulness. His captivating smile and the simple joy he brought to all who entered his world were God’s special gift and that is greatly missed.

His memory will always be cherished and his little handprints and lessons he taught us will be imprinted on our hearts forever. We miss “little man’s” smile and his presence in our home, but the memory of his life propels us to fulfill God’s purposes after his death.

Through his death, we hope to bring encouragement and life to others.

Marie and Tim Kuck (Nathaniel's mom and dad)

Always getting sick?

Does it seem like you're always sick? Here are some things (from Prevention Magazine) that may hamper your immune system:

1. You have a sweet tooth. Too much sugar can slow down the ability of your white blood cells to kill bacteria.
2. You don’t drink enough water. Your body needs fluids to flush out toxins.
3. You need to lose a lot of weight. Excess weight can impair your immune system from fighting infection.
4. You drink water from a well. Well water may contain unsafe levels of arsenic which can hamper your immune system.
5. Your nose is Sahara desert-dry. A runny nose is actually a good defense against colds and the flu.
6. You’re always seriously stressed out. Long-term stress weakens the response of your immune system.
7. You’re always nursing a cold. The average adults gets 1-3 colds each season that typically last 3 or 4 days. If you get more, your resistance might be low. Get more sleep, exercise regularly, and round out your diet with lots of healthy veggies to help boost your immune system.
