What phrase annoys you the most?

Hi, I don't like it when people say, "whatever."

"what happens is" really annoys me! my mom says it all the time! it drives me crazy!!

I attend a lot of trainings and I just finished college.  So, the phrase that I've heard one to many times that annoy me is, "Now with that said..."

        "It could always be worse"



    IT COULD BE ALOT BETTER TOO!!!

I hate it when people at my high school say, "Whatever you say!"

The word "eXACTly" is extremely overused. I hear it all day long at the office.

It drives me nuts when managers or supervisors say, "Keep me in the loop." ugh...what happened to "just keep me posted or updated"?

I find the overuse of the word "like" incredibly difficult to overlook. If I'm talking to someone who says it 17 times in 30 seconds, I tend to not pay attention to what they're talking about!

Also, the word "irregardless"--which isn't a word, and the phrase "I could care less"--when what's intended to mean "I COULDN'T care less!"

"I'm not trying to be difficult but..." and then they go on with their sky-high demands...

Also, "In a minute", when it really takes them like an hour.

I can't stand when people a sentence with , "the reality is.  . ." do they live in such a fantasy world that they have to announce when they are in the real world???

I don't like it when someone is trying to explain something insinuating and says,  that dress you are wearing (for example) is... "how should I say"... hidious!

Oh, and I ALWAYS get this one: "Whatever floats your boat."

"like", "actually" and "you know" and people usually use it all in one sentence. it annoys me a lot! First think and then talk!
for instance:
Actually, you know! I am not really sure like what is going to happen! I think, like, when you do this...... etc.
it drives me in sane! can you please say what you need to say in one complete and correct sentence!  

I hate when someone constantly says, "I don't mean to offend you but.." That is so annoying and then they say something something rude, I also HATE IT when you say to someone "what is your problem?" and they say in retort "YOU!"  UG!!  so aggravating. And another thing is where you like something someone else doesn't like and the person says "NERD ALERT NERD ALERT NERD ALERT!"  Which that doesn't make any sense though but I have had that been said to me numerous times, but in a joking way but it is still annoying.

i.e:
Actually, you know, I think when you, like, do this, something happens! I, like, dont know what to say!!
it can be difficult to figure out what they are trying to say!!!  

My bad!  It always annoys me when people say this.  It's such bad grammar!

There are several phrases I don't really like.

1. 'Sounds like a personal problem to me.'
     - My mom says this to me. She heard it from her boss at her 1st? job. That can be annoying.

2. 'Burn'
     That REALLY annoys me.

3. 'Like'
     I don't mind people saying 'like' a lot. I say it a lot. I think that is a word that a lot of teenagers say. And me being a teenager, I probally say it a lot.

4. 'Whatever'
     I don't really like it when people say that to me.

Whew! That's just a few of the phrases that annoy me. I'm sure there are more but.....

I became an "unmarried" person today. My wife left me in July 2008, a week shy of our 4th anniversary. I had served 14 months in Iraq as a flight nurse, flew 25 missions to 14 different countries. Came back with night terrors, insomnia, and anger. All the anger was directed at doors and walls, never at her or our daughter. She wasn't able to handle the anger and left, kidnapping our daughter. 18 months later, due to a quack psychologist, I only get to see my daughter 6 days per month. I pray for the female you mentioned who is going through a divorce, and wish I could offer encouragement, but it's gonna get worse. If it wasn't for my daughter, I would have pulled the trigger months ago. The VA only made me 50% disabled, but I still cannot work at all due to the PTSD and a tear in my spinal cord at L4,5. My house is in foreclosure, yet my relationship with God increases hourly. I sit in my car often and cry. I still only sleep 2-3 hours per night, yet every morning I find the strength to get up and feed the dog and go to school. I'm in class at the VA to become a chaplain to work with vets. Please keep me in your prayers.

It absolutely drives me up a wall when you make a call to a business and your call is answered by a
a recording device and tells you to press 1 for English!!!!!!!!! Bill Cosby states he will become a write in as Presidential Candidate of 2012 "Any use of the phrase: 'Press 1 for English'  is  immediately banned.    English  is  the official language;   speak it or wait outside of our borders until you can. WOO HOO I will vote for him in a "New York Minute"!!!!!

I have a three yr old girl whose response when you call her name is "what" but with a high tone voice.

In short when someone response with a high toned "WHAT"

what really annoys me is when people start saying something with the phrase "It was really funny" or when people use the word "fur" instead of "for" B-)!

Hanging around a bunch of surfers, I hear it constantly. Not your dude. Heard one surfer call his own mother a dude.

Hi! the words that annoy me are... "If you will", "give or take a few", and over use of the word "viable".

When I am up flying or especially when i'm giving flight instruction the phrase "Any Traffic Please Advise" drives me insane...

I don't like never mind or probably most of all: "No offense." And guess what? It usually offends you.

Here are some phrases that do and don't annoy me.

1. 'Whatever'
    I don't like it when people say that to me.

2.  'Sounds like a personal problem to me'

    I don't mind when people say like a lot. Teenagers tend to say that a lot. I'm a teen though and I say it a lot, I'm sure.

Doesn't it drive you crazy when people say "SO" When they run out of words to say after a sentence. "So" What? Why are you saying so, as if your going to continue the sentence with something else.

Alot of kids at my high school when they do something wrong say "My B." Not only does it drive me crazy it also drives the teachers crazy!

Well, Scott just said the word 'like' about 8 times.... like, that drives me crazy, do you, like, know what I mean? I know it's like just one word and not like a phrase, but, like, it is just a word that is like way overused!

I hate it when people say "oh my GOD" I don't think that's right and "oh God" it depends how you use it but.... use it in agood way not bad! GOD IS LOVE

I am driven crazy with the phrase "I don' care"

Top three most annoying for me are
1) "if you will" more than once in a conversation

2) that sucking sound people make with their tongue and the roof of their mouth before they start talking

3) when an adult say "no hu-uh" when answering a question

I'm probably guilty of overusing "man" and "dude" when addressing someone!

It drives me nuts when people say "he goes" or "she goes" when they mean "he said" or "she said".

Have a nice weekend has always irritated me, it's like an order.  

I guess the real reason it annoys me so much is that unlike other people I used to work with I didn't have anything to look forward to during the weekend.  As work was my life.

It totally irritates me when people say "let me tell you something" which translates into this is what your doing wrong and i am always right!!  also if i hear our dear president mention yet one more "teachable moment" i may spontaneously combust...    oh and one of the phrases that i hear more and more...."i know right!"   ugh

I hear this all the time, and someone else has already commented on this overused phrase, but people are always saying, "With that being said" "with that said"  "having said that"  it all means the same thing and i hear it mostly from commentators on the news. They really need to find a new phrase to say, or just say it, without using this phrase at all.

I don't know if it counts as a phrase or not, but I hate it when people use the term "24/7."  It just bugs me!

It drives me crazy when people say "I know...Right?!" so annoying, and the youth seem to be saying it all the time!

Business Professionals use the word "ABSOLUTELY" too much! Everyone in my office uses and it drives me crazy.

This isn't a phrase, but it drives me crazy when people (including radio people - sorry guys) use I instead of me.  I found this on the Internet:

A simple way to determine if you should use “I” or “me” is to take the other person out of the sentence.

How about this one:

“Suzie smiled at Tom and me.”
“Suzie smiled at Tom and I.”

A lot of people would choose the second sentence, because they are afraid of sounding stupid by using “me.” However, when you take Tom out of the sentence, you would say, “Suzie smiled at me.” Right? That means that, “Suzie smiled at Tom and me,” is correct.

my husband always makes a statement and then says huh at the end to make it a question, like:
I think I will go to the store now.  Huh?
And then theres always the famous "have his cake and eat it too."  Ok, seriously, whats the point in having cake if you can't eat it?

To Dennis Kearney, thank you for serving our country!  I have been through a divorce myself, without all the extra complications you're going through, and it was terrible enough.  But God is good... He carried me through and put me in a much better place.  I pray that the Lord will do the same for you

Kelly used it when you were talking about doing this on the air this afternoon.  "GO FIGURE" !!

Also it bugs me so much when singers pronounce 'you' like 'zhu'; 'yeah' like 'jeah'; and 'and I' like 'nDie'  (Brandon Heath in 'Give Me your Eyes' is a perfect example! Listen to his 'yeah..yeah..yeah's!

'My bad', and when people say God's 'growing me'. That's bad grammar. I hear that one a lot too. Should be 'God is allowing me to grow'.

When someone is talking to a group of girls and they call them "Guys". Every man on every season of the bachelor calls the room full of ladies, "Guys". I know terms change but when used like that, makes the person sound very wrong.

I can't stand to hear anyone use the term "Sucks".
I'm sorry for even writing it, but maybe people will read this and STOP. It is used all the time by young and old, also on T.V., this enrages me And I let them know. It is one letter away from another term that's over used, but I'm not going to write it down.  Please help me stop these raunchy terms from being over used, it degrades people.

My sister always overuses the word "dude" and it drives me batty!

I have two phrases that annoys me and I find myself saying one of them at times...drives me nuts.  That one is, "I know, right?" and the other one is one that I heard my mom and dad say quite a lot and I've NEVER heard them say in all my life! I'm 29 and I just started hearing them saying it about 2 to 3 years ago! It's "Holy Crow!" What the???? haha

another....."with all due respect", then the person says something inappropriate or rude.

It drive me nuts when people use "the" insead of "my".  For example, I grew up with my dad always saying "the wife" or the daughter".  Hello!!!!  If you love them, then claim them by saying "MY wife" and "MY duaghter"    

The one that really annoys me is FYI or For Your Information. It rubs me as rude and inconsiderate. I think if information is needed then just come out with it.

"Your call may be recorded for quality and training purposes".  There have been many times I wish it was because the customer service was non-existent and all employees should learn how not to treat customers.

When people say "I'll do it tomorrow" but tomorrow never comes. I's so glad god didn't say I don't have time to save you right now, so i'll do it tomorrow. Isn't GOD GREAT!!!!!!!!!

A really big catchphrase right now is "epic fail." Basically whenever someone messes up, especially in front of other people, someone else in the room will shout, "EPIC FAIL!" Usually it's done in the spirit of fun, but it's really annoying. The one time I said it I felt really silly.

i work at a high school. i think the most annoying phrase is "that's not fair!

It makes me nuts when people misuse "myself" when me or I would be the appropriate word to use.

Wrong usage:
The boss asked John and myself to give a brief presentation.

Correct usage:
The boss asked John and me to give a brief presentation.

If you took "John and" out of the sentence would you say, "The boss asked myself to give a brief presentation"?  I bet you wouldn't!  Stop it, people!!

I think it is very telling that "Imma mom" has replaced "I have children."  "Imma mom, Imma mom."  And it is especially annoying when it is used to qualify a value anyone might have:  "Imma mom, so clean water and air are very important to me."  Like the rest of us don't have a reason to care.  "Imma mom, so I'm on a budget."

It's worse when the women act self-sacrificing:  "Imma mom, so I don't have time to shower, eat or read."

And don't get me started on "I'm a single mom."  Women so enjoy the sympathetic reaction that phrase gets that I have met married women with hard-working, traveling husbands who complain, "During the week, I'm a single mom."

I also dislike the endless, dramatic proclamations about how nothing and no one is more important than their kids.  The drama of it all!  "I'd throw myself in front of a truck for my kid."

People have been reproducing forever without all of this drama, these proclamations, this labeling.

I know a grown man who asks "No offense?" before saying the most insulting things  He makes it sound like he is asking permission, and getting it.  "No offense?  You're stupid."

I'm like Samantha... "No Offense..."!

Why start any sentence with, 'No Offense'!

Just dumb, stupid, and annoying!
