Valentine's Day Ideas???

A fun and cheap way to celebrate Valentines Day with your spouse....Write them several love notes  of why you fell in love with them and leave them around them house for them to find on a love note hunt...then on the last note tell them to find the last note in the bathroom.  You are waiting in a huge bubblebath with just tea lights for lights.  Soooo romantic!!!

When we were first married we use to write out "coupons" for each other to use whenever we wanted throughout the year. Like - remote "CONTROL" for 1 day; walk on the beach; night out with friends; or whatever you know they do not like to do... they can hand you the coupon and you do the act of service without complaining. It always got interesting what we would come up as the next year we would think of something and "stash it away" for our LOVE DAY present. One year my kids even took the idea and made a "Rainy Day" jar because they knew I was not looking forward to having "an empty nest". It was full of special memories they had growing up and now I could read them anytime I was wishing kids were around again. Just think of the 5 love languages and tap into your love one's top language.

For a nice surprise, wait until the mirror in your bathroom is foggy - use a dry finger to write a love note.  Next time your sweetheart takes a shower, he/she will see your message appear!  My sweetie and I do this all the time!

This year I am writing a love letter to my husband.  We have been married almost 10 years,so I wanted to do something special.  I plan on writing a long letter telling him why I fell in love with him and why I still love him.

Another idea is to make a "manly" floral arrangement for his desk.  I used a square, chunky glass vase, filled it with shiny pennies and added silk flowers that have a dried flower look to them.  He loved it!  Why the pennies?  My husband had heard someone at church say that they always stopped to pick up pennies off the ground and took the time to read the penny - "In God We Trust".  The penny took on a new meaning for him.  So his arrangement is a reminder of not only that I love him, but for him to trust God.

Write a note that says, "If I were a millionaire, this is what I'd buy my Valentine", then put it in a decorative box with some crazy, fun, exciting magazine cut-outs of exotic places to visit, maybe some diamonds and pearls, a boat/yacht, a cabin, a cruise ship.....things you guys have talked about doing or places you'd like to go.

In our Print Shop program I selected a whole page of plain red hearts (about 2").  In a cursive font in white lettering I typed "I Love You" in the center of each heart.  I cut them out including a narrow white boarder of the plain paper around the hearts.  Then I tucked one in the cuff of one of my husband's socks, in a jacket pocket, in his wallet, on his computer keyboard...the sky is the limit!  He returned the favor by hiding them in my stuff as he would find them.

I'm thinking have a national Christian recording artist...say like Matthew West...write and perform a love song for you. Old idea, but it sure worked for me this morning!

I am going to make my husband's favorite meal - Chinese Pepper Steak. It isn't something I make all the time, so it is a treat for him. I am also going to tell him how much he means to me and the reasons I love him.

My husband and I have only been married three years, so the past two valentines were really special our first year we went out to a nice dinner and went to see the Phantom in the Opera, Last year we went and stayed at a hotel for the weekend and went out to a nice dinner and just stayed in at the hotel and watched a romatic movie. I have two children from a preivouse marriage and he has a child from a preivouse marriage and together we have a little boy. So this year we decided to start making valentines a family event. We are taking our kids sledding in the afternoon and then we are taking the kids out to a nice family dinner, and to finish the day we are taking our children to see Princess and the frog. With having busy schedules throughout the week and weekends we dont have much family time. So spending time with our kids and doing something that we all can enjoy feels like the perfect way to enjoy valentines.

One year I forgot Valentin's Day so now I start 5 days before, my wife gets a card and a small gift, one each day, and the gifts are not much, there small one dallor gifts but on Valentine she gets more then a dallor gift, she loves it she looks forward for her gifts each morning. and when I started this I have never spent ove $50 dallors

Something you could do is have your husband sit on the couch and put in a movie he really likes tell him to go ahead and start watching and you will be right back. Go into the kitchen and grag a big bowl and put warm water in it. Grab a towel some foot scrub or just soap and some lotion. Pick up the bowl, and towel, lotion and soap. Come back to where your husband is tell him Don't get up and sit the bath towel out across your leg the bowl under his feet and lotion, soap beside you. Than procede to wash and than massage his feet with the lotion. While massaging him pray over his feet that he is on every day to provide for your family and here and there tell him thank you for how hard he works, for being a great provider, and tell him you want to bless him because he blesses you every day. I did this the other day and I think I felt better than he did because I honored my husband like Christ calls us to do. It was Awesome!!

My husband I have been married for 16 years.  This year for Valentines Day I made a Photo Memory book.  I did it here at home on my computer.  I downloaded pictures to Wal-Mart and created the book.  It was real easy.  I am so excited about giving it to him.  Good luck with whatever you decide.  Amy

My husband and I are short on money right now, so we are giving imaginary gifts this Valentine's Day.  We set a limit of $150 imaginary dollars, and on Valentine's Day, we'll give each other a card, and tell what we pretended to buy for each other.

Here is an idea my mom is doing this year for my dad. I think this is sweet you can either start this 11 days before valentines or start on valentines and carry it out until you are finished.

Day 1 - one balloon that says "I Love You";  

Day 2 - two coupons for various special favors or treats;  

Day 3 - three love songs, some taped and some written words, that mean something special to us;

Day 4 - four love poems, I found on a postcard site and hand written;  

Day 5 - five terms of endearment;  

Day 6 - six chocolate candy hearts;  

Day 7 - seven flowers;  

Day 8 - eight heart shaped cookies;  

Day 9 - nine message heart candies;  

Day 10 - ten reasons (of the millions) why I love him;  

Day 11 - eleven Hershey's hugs and kisses;  

Day 12 (Valentine's) - twelve ways to say "I Love You", languages.

Actually you should consider yourself fortunate if you can even afford $50 to spend on the one you love. I married my husband when I was 19, and over 23 yrs later, we're still very much in love. Most every yr we are not able to get each other anything for Christmas, our b-days, our anniversary or Valentine's Day. But what matters to me is knowing that he would buy me the world if he could. Those commercials out there that say "Show her you care - buy her a diamond." are aweful. One doesn't have to buy something to show their love for someone and if a person doesn't have the money, it can make them feel just horrible. If you love someone, you show it in all the little things you do for them each and every day and in how you treat them. You put their needs before your own.
Anyway, one thing that can really bring back wonderful memories and rekindle that spark is to look at your wedding pics and pics from when you were dating. And that doesn't cost a thing!

This year, I asked my wife to serve with me at our church's Sunday outreach.  What beeter way to spend Valentine's day, than to spend it with the one I love, both of us serving the one's who love gave us life & life together.

One year when my husband I were first married we were both dirt poor and had been snowed in for a few days leading up to Valentine's.  Combination of both kept me from being able to get out and buy him anything.  I took a red magic marker and colored hearts on his undershirts, socks and underpants and folded them back up and put them in the drawer so when he pulled them out he seen the hearts. I had also made him a homemade card.  I got up early and fixed  him a special candlelight breakfast of heart shaped pancakes with all the fixings and used our very best dishes with stemware and everything.

I was just on my way home from work and I heard you asking for Valentine's gift ideas.  This is something that I did for my husband last year and he absolutely thought it was the best gift I ever gave him.  Since you will finish the Love Dare on Valentine's Day, this gift will be very special and appropriate too!  What I did was I went to a department store and bought the salt and peppers shakers most like the ones shown in the movie, "Fireproof".  I half filled them with salt and pepper and then I glued them together.  You need to make sure to use a glue that will adhere to glass because super glue will not hold it.  Also make sure to fill the shakers first as it is hard to fill them once they are glued together.  After completing the Love Dare this will be a very special remembrance for years to come.  My husband's is still sitting on his dresser and it reminds him daily of the deep love we share.  It also reminds you of God's love being inseparable!

My husband took me to a hotel last year.  While we were gone, we found out I was pregnant.  I won't forget that Valentine's Day.  Now we have a healthy 3 1/2 month old daughter Brooke.

My wife Ashleigh and I are newly weds. And I tend to go all out for everything. Since we are now married we decided to go smaller on things. We are going out for a nice dinner tonight. But we said no gifts and I just could not do it. So I went to Target and bought the Darius Rucker cd because "History in the Making" is that song that we danced to at our wedding.

one year i wrote a love story for my husband detailing"our story".I bound it in red construction paper with a glitter "title".He loved it.This week was his 50th birthday and since he just lost his job, we have a tight budget.I wrote and printed out 50 reasons why I love him.It touched he deeply and it could sure be used for Valentines Day also

One idea for Valentines Day.  Take a really nice box or basket with lid.  Place in the container several little slips of paper.  On each paper is listed a quality or characteristic you love about your spouse.  I.e. "I love your sense of humor", "I love your honesty".  Things like that.  And when they are blue they can take out the box and look over why you love them so much and it can really perk a person up!

For 99 cents I bought and downloaded a song and emailed it to my husband - it was "our song" from when we were dating 25 years ago - Billy Joel's "You're my home".  He LOVED IT!

Photographs are very important to me.  I am always taking pictures.  So a few years age, I made a small photo album for my husband.  I purchased a Valentine themed album, the 4x6 kind with about 10 double sided pages.  In the front cover I put picture of myself and of him as toddlers, and then I filled the rest of the album of pictures of us together from our dating days to the present. On the last page, i made a small collage by cutting out pics of us as a couple, and then I saved the inside of the back cover for a picture of us that I took on that Valentines. On some of the pages I put captions that came from songs we like that fit the picture.
Kellie, I feel your pain! This year we will be married 25 years, and the original ideas don't always come easy. (One standard that I do every year is bake his favorite chocolate chip cookies with extra salt!)

well...for valentines, you really dont have to spend money. It is a love day and why not only spend it with your significant other. Take a walk together, and have a long talk, like you have not in a long time. Tell how much you love each other. An idea is take nice spoons and dip them in the person favortie chocolate ( white , milk , dark ) then wrap up in red paper tie with twine and add a home made card or note

Start the day out in prayer asking the Lord to be your Valentine. Get out a large wash pan and wash each others feet. Both will enjoy this. Then sit by the fire with a Fondue and feed each other. (A Couple of lit candles would set a nice ambience) While eating, talk about the Ten things that you love the most about each other and also your relationship. Then maybe a candle lite Bath together followed by star gazing and admiring how awesome Gods work is.

Hey there, let me first say that even as the years go money is still tight!  LOL  On our 6th Valentines we lived in a condo in California with a seperate garage and I told my husband I needed to get something out of the car at night and when I did I took 5 packs heart cling stickers that I bought from the dollar store (which they still have today) and placed them all over his work truck.  I knew he wouldn't have time to take them off and that it was dark enough in the morning that He couldn't tell until he got in the light.  I will never forget him coming home with a big smile on his face and how many people stopped him and told him SOMEONE MUST REALLY LOVE YOU!!  17 years later  I STILL LOVE HIM and I planning to up the annie one year and put it on a Billboard.  BEST HUSBAND AND LOVE OF MY LIFE - TY CALLOWAY

Just recently I traced a colorful map of our city and made a legend to go with it marking all of the places that we're significant to us. Some of the places were the house where we had our first kiss and the hospital where our son was born. it was for his birthday but i think it would be a really cool valintines day gift.

Hi guys, my husband and I have been married for 10 years.  The Lord is truly doing a work in our marriage, if it weren't for Him, we would not be together anymore! Anyways, to show my love this year, we are having a paste candle light dinner at home alone - kids at sitters!
AND, I have cut out some red little hearts and am writing little love notes around the house where I know he will be looking.  I know he will love to hear how and why I love him. God bless!

The plan for Valentines Day we have this year is alot better then the last few cause I was either 2 sick to do anything or in the hospital. after 4 years of this back and forth with my health hearing the good news of I'm in perfect health were going to Church to praise and worship the Lord, then come home and I'm going to cook dinner cause I need to serve my sweetheart for staying by my side durning all of this.

in 2008 the day after valentines day 2-15-2008 i had my youngest dominique. she is the best valentines gift God has ever given me. Besides that my husband always tries to give me things throughout the year so valentines is just another day he gives me more love and my birthday is on the 19th so i feel so lucky that my husband tries to spoil me with gifts and all his love. I thank God for my husband. we have 4 yrs together now. so happy

get a couples massage...i am a massage therapist so i know i will b busy this sunday it is a great gift for couples to show their love to one another and get very relaxing too.

When we first got married I was going to school and had low funds low low funds so I had just 1/2 dozen roses sent to her ther was 5 live and 1 different colored fake rose. I put in the card how much she ment to me, how much I loved her and I let her know that my love for her would last until the last rose died.Which is and allways be forever. Love her so much!

Tell him how much it means to you to have a husband that follows God and how blessed you are to see that fruit in his life. I just wanted to say thanks for reminding everyone that doesn't have a "Valentine" that God is with us.  My husband passed away unexpectedly two years ago this month.  On Feb. 12 we met at a Christian Singles dinner.  The following year we married on Feb. 22.  Two years ago he passed away on Feb. 25.  So this is a sad month for me.  But I'm glad that my Father is always there and I know my husband is worshiping at Jesus's feet.  As the song says, I can only imagine what he is doing now. Thanks again for the reminder.

One year at the beginning of our relationship my wonderful husband made me something special.  He took a cork-board which we already had and stapled construction paper on it.  He taped heart shaped lollipops to it and wrote sweet nothings all over it.  How much he loved me and why he loved me.  It didn't cost much at all, but it's one of the most memorable gifts because he made it.

Also one year I left him a trail of rose petals and valentines glitter leading from the front door to the bed.  Every couple of feet I put a construction paper heart with something sweet written on it.

You can take red bell peppers and spell out I <3 U on top of the cheese. It's cute to do the heart in red onions. You can substitute these for another topping of your choice! Feeling more romantic and have a few more dollars to spend?? Light candles, Get cheap red plastic plates from Wal-Mart or Target ($1.50) in the REGULAR plate section, stay away from the V-DAY section.

Roses too expensive?!?!? During this time of year hundreds of people are buying roses from florists! Call a local florist a day ahead of time and tell them to save you the rose pedals that fall off while they are building their bouquets (they usually throw these away!) Some florists will charge you $3 or $4 for a BIG BULK of pedals. You just can't be picky about the colors. Use the rose pedals to decorate the dinner table. It makes for a romantic feel.

Cards?? Print out your favorite picture of the two of you, cut it out and paste it to a folded piece of constructing paper. Write a love letter inside. Your loved one will keep this forever. If you need ideas on poems or sayings.. you can find lots of free, cute poems online! *Just don't give yourself ALL the credit! ;)* Put the card on the empty dinner plate along with his/her favorite candy bar!

You can add anything else you can think of to personalize this romantic Valentine's meal. If you really want to top it off, don't forget the bottle of red wine!

me & my boyfriend are celebrating our 2 years of being together on valentines day. while money is tight i still plan on doing something very special for him. in the previous years i would always decorate his room while he was out with streamers, balloons, and candy. i would lead rose petals to his door with a nice heartfelt card. doesnt cost big bucks & it always comes from the heart!

This afternoon you were asking for Vday ideas with economical restrictions. Well, my beloved groom and I have 3 small kids and we know that finding a babysitter on the 14th is near impossible and we don't care to pull others away from their loves on this special day. So, we make the kids a very special heart shaped pancake dinner that evening, put them to bed and then have a wonderful time just the two of us making a special meal that we wouldn't otherwise make. Last year we did a Thai dish and ended with chocolate fondue. We ate by candlelight, didn't need to pay a teenager at the end of the night and began a great tradition!

weeeeeell. theres this girl ive had a crush on for 2 years. she knows it too. were reely good friends, and im best friends with her brother who is 14, like me. i plan to get flowers because she likes flowers and chocolate because she likes candy. please feel free to give me other suggestions.

An idea for husbands:

Recall a song that is special to your wife: from your wedding day, or that she likes or one that sounds sweet romantic. Set a lamp on to dim the lights; press play (play the song), invite her to dance with you. If you don't dance, don't worry, just take her by the hand and sway a bit with her as you "dance to the song." And when the song is done invite her to the bathroom where you have drawn a bath, you got rose petals to put around the tub. Have candles going... NOTE-> if your bathroom needs a little clean up do that for her before she sees it. And let the night progress!

Since we have 3 kids and do all of our shopping together (we live in the middle of no-where) my hubby already got his Valentines day gift. I tried to sneek it but it didn't work.
Anyway, I bought him 2 foam Nerf swords and the Princess Bride movie. We have yet to watch the Princess Bride (I mean, both of us have watched it together, but not THIS one), but we have had 3 sword "fights" already. It has been a blast, and we've laughed so hard that we've almost cried!

Don't spend money on a card.  Sit down and write something from your heart and make your own card.  Not only will it mean more to your spouse but it really gives you time to sit and reflect about the many reasons you love him or(her). It felt so good to just think of all how much I love my husband,now I can't get him out of my head, 17 years of marriage and it feels as if we just said "I do"!  You really can rekindle your love by just thinking and praying more for your spouse.

Well, I'm not married yet (nor have I even started dating yet.) But this Valentines Day, I plan on writing a special letter my Future Husband, and I will give it to him on our first Valentines day together when we are married.  Some people find it strange to write letters to their future spouses, but I think it is a special thing to do--I am looking forward to the day that I will get to meet the special person that God has picked out especially for me. Writing these letters is kind of my way of telling my future husband that he is worth waiting for.

We actually can't spend time together tomorrow, so we're going to have our own Valentine's Day in April. Knowing us, we'll ride our motorcycles out of town and have a picnic together.  

Every year I have a special "Valentine Meal" for our family. This started when the kids were really little-now the oldest is 28y/o and I still do this for whoever is in town at the time. I get out a fancy pink tablecloth, bone china, goblets, etc.. and make as much of the food heart shaped as possible. In past years I've made heart shaped meatloaf, hamburgers, ham, Pizza (with heart shaped pepperoni), biscuits, buns, jello jigglers, cookies, brownies, cake,  you get the picture. The kids have always loved this meal, and I hope they continue the tradition when they get homes of their own!! ps-I do the same for Halloween with all the food in halloween shapes (jack-o-lantern, ghosts, etc..). I always use my good dishes without worrying that something will get broken (so what if it does, it's just a dish!!).

I started doing this the year my husband and I got married 17 years ago. I have been doing this every since and our 8yr old son helps too.

Before my husband gets up the morning of Valentines day….

I get my darkest reddest lip stick. My son and I go into the bathroom. Stand in the tub and put the lipstick on. We start by put our kisses all over the shower wall then draw big hearts on the wall. We then write “I Love You Daddy” big, red and bold.

When my husband takes his shower he has a great surprise. My husband thinks this is great. The “love note” on the wall stays for quit a while and warms his heart each day.

Then best thing is. It only cost for the cheap lipstick.

The rewards are my son and I giggling as we do this and then seeing the smile on my husbands face as he comes out of the shower.

My mom had a great idea for my dad this valentine. She bought 14 silk roses.  Every day she left my dad a rose with a message stating why she loved him. Everyday he would collect them in a vase. On the last day he will have 14 roses all with little notes of why she loves my dad. He looked forward to finding a rose everyday from my mom. I though this was a sweet idea!

These are all great ideas!  I LOVE them all.
Well Valentine's day is officially here.  For my dear sweet husband of 21 years I am doing somthing special just for him.  On Feb. 11 he was diagnosed with a severe case of hypertension, needless to say he has to make some heart healthy choices. So I am making a scrapbook type cookbook of heart healthy recipes that will help reduce his sodium and cholesterol levels. (2.97 for paper, a glue stick, some stickers and a three ring binder that I recylced.  Most of the supplies I already had...so this project is cheap!)

I love that God chose this week to bring this to our attention. My husband wants to be around to see his three daughters grow to adulthood and wants to hold his future grandbabies.  So together we will embark on this new journey by eating healthy and losing at least 20 lbs each. Pray for us! T & K

Well usually my family justs gives each other cards, but this year we all slept in because the day before Valentines Day my oldest Brother got married.

My husband and I began printing lyrics to a song that reminded us of each other and putting that in a Valentine's card.  It's nice to know when I hear a certain song that my husband thinks of me when he hears it.

One of the most appreciated gifts I gave my husband was a coupon book. On my computer, I made coupons for things that were of value to him. For example, a massage or a movie night. He loved cashing in his coupons in and it became a really fun thing for both of us! Cost = $0

I have a great "love story" to share for Valentines. Several years ago my wife and I were experiencing some challenging times in our relationship - due mainly to our busy lifestyles. This year, since I have been out of work since being laid of in September, money is really tight so I couldn't do my usual buy a bunhch of roses and some balloons. You know your basic no thought no effort easy V-Day gift. Well to save money this year I decided to make my wife some roses.

I looked up the directions for making origami roses then bought some colored paped and superglue, for attaching stems to the rose buds as the origami part is for the bud only. The total cost was less than 5 dollars and the reult of several hours of work was a very pretty boquet of paper roses that if not exposed to fire, water, or the extreme affections of my 2.5 year old daughter, should last for at least 10 years.

My wife loves them and says they are the best roses she has ever recieved and the best Valentines gift ever.

You guys used to have a radio clip about a singer who made a valentine's card and said something about 'you love me in spite of my faults'...can you write what that story was again? Thanks and God Bless
