God of this city: Indianapolis!

Downtown Indianapolis, Sunday morning August 8th, thousands of Christians worshiping together!

Thank you to everyone who worked to make Worship in the City so amazing and God honoring.  For city blocks you could hear Jesus being praised.  Some of the music was urban gospel, some was southern gospel, and some of the music was modern rock worship.  Several pastors shared their hearts.  It was BEAUTIFUL to see the Body of Christ together, outside, in unity, and motivated to serve Indianapolis.  When the Aaron Pelsue Band began sing "God of this City" with downtown Indy as the backdrop, it was moving, precious, anointed, and so right.

What is going to happen in America if the church joins together to love our cities like NEVER before, in an UNPRECEDENTED move of unity and love under the banner of Jesus Christ?  The very best is yet to come.  I'm praying God will show me what my role is, show you what your role is, and that we will all have the courage to do what He calls us to do.

The time has come to love and to live what we've learned.

in Christ - Lisa

How was your weekend?

Eric hosted Ignite Chicago.  (His daughter Liv helped him on stage, and David Crowder signed his son Evan's shirt:)  Thousands showed up to worship with K-LOVE artists MercyMe, tobyMac, Third Day, Jeremy Camp, Matthew West--a great weekend of music.

Lisa got to see her first NASCAR race AND the K-LOVE car driven by Michael McDowell for McDonald Motor Sports!  It was fast and loud and fun and wonderful to meet some godly people trying to make a difference in the race world.

Producer KC stared at his wife's pregnant belly waiting for the words "it's time." :)

Amy Baumann just tried to keep everything together while her husband is out of the country on a missions' trip.

What about you?

Thank you God for "Texas Billy"

Thank you for sharing your stories with us of people who Make a Difference!

Here's a story from Hammond, Louisiana...

"While celebrating my wife's birthday with family at a local Chili's restaurant in Hammond, LA, we were blessed and surprised by a man named "Texas Billy" that picked up our $160 food tab. The waitress informed us that Billy has paid our tab.

Come to find out, we were not the only ones, nor was this the first time for him. The wait staff and restaurant manager says that he visits frequently and pays the tab for families and couples because it makes him feel good and he likes helping others. He is a U.S. Marine Veteran that had battled some hard times in life, but feels the need to help others.

We'd like to ask God to bless Billy as he has blessed others.

We are faithful listeners and supports of K-LOVE and thank you for sharing these types of stories!"

- Jason, Stacy, & Family, Baton Rouge, LA

Baby, Baby

Producer KC and Jessica's baby girl is due August 6th!  KC's got that "Oh my, I'm about to be a daddy" glazed, giddy, nervous way about him these days.

Whether you're single or married, childless or the parent of many-- you have some wisdom to share.  You have a deep thought on what matters most, what thing has helped you the most, what you wish you "would have known back then."  Maybe it's an observation you've always wanted to share about parenting.  Maybe it's something someone told you many years ago.

Throw some wisdom KC's way in the comment section.  And in a few days, we'll print your comments and put them in Elliana Joy's baby book.

Wow, God - He Delivers

Did you hear the story about the Colorado family that ordered pizza, then the husband had a heart attack?  They called 911 and immediately the door bell rang.  It was the pizza.  Little did they know that pizza delivery guy Chris Weubben had recently moved to Denver and was delivery pizzas until he could find a job as a paramedic.  Chris administered CPR on George, who was in cardiac arrest.  Really, you've got to read the whole story from the ABC 7 in Denver here.

What timing.  What an amazing use of Chris' skill he learned as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Army in Iraq.  What if they had called a different pizza place?  What if Chris had been off that night?  What can you say but:  it seems like God.

Do you have a "Wow God" divine intervention story to share today?  You can leave it here in the comment section for all to read, or try to get on the show this morning at 800-900-1300.

He delivers:)

Oh, these Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes

Bethany’s Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes!

Thank you Bethany for making these cupcakes for Producer KC's shower.  Thank you for leaving the extras at my house!!!Laughing  And thanks for sharing this recipe and pretty picture, although, FYI, I won't be making them.  Instead I just want to be at your house whenever you make them.  Is that okay?  -Lisa

For the cupcake:  1 box Lemon Cake Mix

For the cupcake filling: 1 can Strawberry pie filling

1 jar Lemon pie filling

For the Glaze:

1 container frozen lemonade concentrate (thawed)

1 cup powdered sugar

For the Frosting: 1 jar Lemon Frosting

1 jar Strawberry Frosting

Directions Prepare, bake and cool the cupcakes according to package directions. After they’ve cooled, poke holes with a fork in the tops of the cupcakes. While the cupcakes are baking, puree the can of strawberry pie filling in a food processer or blender. Pour in the jar of lemon pie filling and blend the fillings together.

Also while the cupcakes are baking, mix together the lemonade concentrate and 1 cup powdered sugar until the sugar dissolves. Once the cupcakes have cooled, spoon the glaze over them. (I would recommend having something under your cooling rack to catch the runoff of the glaze.) Fill a decorating bag with the strawberry lemon filling. (Insert Bismarck tip 230 into the bag before you fill it with the filling.) Insert the tip in the top center of the cupcake and squeeze out a small amount of the strawberry lemon filling into the cupcake.

After all the cupcakes have been filled, you’re ready for the last step - frosting! Fill one decorating bag with the strawberry frosting and one decorating bag with the lemon frosting. I used tip 1M for both frostings. Pipe a spiral of the lemon frosting around the outer edge of the cupcake and pipe a second spiral of the strawberry frosting on the top center of the cupcake. (These flavors can be reversed. You can do strawberry on the outer edge and lemon in the middle.)

Manners with Michele Borba

"Hearts, like doors, will open with ease, if you learn to use these keys."

Weekly keys for your fridge:  saying thank you, saying please, saying excuse me.  Add a new one each week, while reinforcing the others.

The three "B's" to use when correcting bad manners (or for any discipline) :

1) Be brief

2) Be private

3) Be specific

For more, check out Michele's blog on manners.

You may have seen Dr. Michele Borba on the Today Show, Fox News or countless other TV shows. She's an award-winning author and international speaker on character education and social development of children. Michele joined us this morning and had some great insight into helping raise children. We look forward to having Michele join us on a regular basis - if you would like to know more about Michele and her books, click here.
