Leadership

David Atkinson, CPA
VP of Finance

Favorite Core Value: In His strength. It's not about us.

David Atkinson joined Educational Media Foundation in 1998 as the ministry's Controller.  He was named Vice President of Finance in 2017.

While David's role is primarily concerned with leading the finance and accounting teams, budgeting, financial analysis and serving as a strategic member of the executive team, he also enjoys talking with our listeners during pledge drives. That's when David gets to receive calls from men and women who share how their lives changed due to a song or message they heard on K-LOVE or Air1:

"It reminds me that we are not just producing a product; God has chosen to use us to touch the lives of our listeners and help them to deepen their relationship with Christ," David says.

He has his own story about God speaking to him through K-LOVE and a song...

In 1993, David and his wife, Sheri, were expecting their second daughter when they discovered she had a life-threatening medical condition. She passed away shortly thereafter. The Lord touched them through the song “Why', by 4Him, as it played on K-LOVE:

"It ministered to us in such an incredible way,” David recalls. “K-LOVE was a huge part of the healing process, coming alongside us through the music in ways the people here didn't even realize."

David had no idea that one day he would work for K-LOVE but God did...

After graduating from California State University, Chico, with a bachelor's degree in business administration, he took a position at Price Waterhouse LLP in Sacramento.

Upon earning his CPA, David was offered the Controller position at Educational Media Foundation. Thrilled with the opportunity, he started in his new role in March 1998 and never looked back.

With a life-long passion for learning, David earned a master's degree in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary while working full-time at K-LOVE. In 2019, he will attend a CFO course at Stanford University.

David and Sheri live in Northern California. They have two adult daughters, Ashley and Cassie.
