Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years!

The Girl Scouts of the USA is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a major badge redesign — the first in 25 years. Here, a brief guide to the scouts' "cool" new badges:  Click Here.  Some old-fashioned badges — like Looking Your Best and Fitness to Fashion — have been eliminated or drastically altered. A number of new badges — like Good Credit, Money Manager, and Savvy Shopper — have been added, with a focus on financial literacy. Other new badges include Comic Artist, Behind the Ballot, Website Designer, Locavore, and Car Care. Read More Here

What would your "row" look like?

Last night I (Craig) noticed something on my Netflix account online.  It shows rows of movies that you have watched and others that it figures you might be interested in.  And by that row reads this little statement: ”Your taste preference created this row.”  That struck me.  This row that featured comedy, documentaries, psychological dramas and such was created by MY taste preference.

At that moment I pictured the end of my life with a long row of pictures.  Pictures of people, emotions, actions, words, intentions and more.  And next to that row read this: "Your taste preference created this." Have you ever thought you could create something out of your own taste preference?  You can.  If you don’t like what’s being created in your life, take a look at your taste preference…do you have a taste for the things of God and His will or for the things of this world and your own will?  What do you and your tastes prefer and what are they creating for others to watch?

God already has it figured out!

I (Craig) find this interesting since I battled clinical depression for 10 years!  Researchers have discovered a gene that plays a major role in the brain of people who suffer from depression. The gene has not been linked to depression in the past, but in a study from Yale University and the Hartford Hospital Institute of Living, RNF123 affected the brain’s hippocampus, which is altered in depression sufferers.

The doctors, in a sense, are trying to figure out how to renew the mind.  I love that.  And, I love that God already has that figured out for you and me!
Isa 26:3 - "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.
Ro 8:6 - For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
…be transformed by the renewing of your mind
…you have a spirit of power, love and sound mind

Vienna Sausages

Craig recently learned that Amy has never tried Vienna Sausages (a favorite of his many years ago), so he decided it was time! Here are some pictures from the experience. And.....Kank ate a few too many!

Amy's a little unsure of the ingredients...

Love at first bite? NOT!

And, then there's Kank!

Teens and young adults leaving church!

David Kinnaman, the 38-year-old president of the Barna Group, an evangelical research firm, is the latest to sound the alarm. In his new book, "You Lost Me: Why Young Christians Are Leaving Church and Rethinking Faith," he says that 18 to 29-year-olds have fallen down a "black hole" of church attendance. There is a 43% drop in Christian church attendance between the teen and early adult years, he says. These young dropouts value the sense of community their churches provide but are tired of being told how they should live their lives. Click here for more info on the Barna group and book.
