Vacation Money

Hey bosses, if you were thinking about dropping by Starbucks on your way to work to surprise the team with morning lattes, forget it. This guy totally has you beat as best boss ever. Rather than simply offering time off, Bart Lorang, CEO of the Denver-based tech startup FullContact API, gives his employees a whopping $7,500 to take vacations. There are only two stipulations: You have to actually take a vacation with the money, and you can't take any work calls, respond to emails, or tweet about the office while away. He is a true believer in rejuvenation time -- and in keeping employees happy.

Question is, could you unplug, even for that amount of cash?

Hugs for ALL

In today’s fast-paced world, people often lament the lack of community that once defined small-town America. After moving to a new city, Melinda Schmidt wanted to connect with people in the same way she did with her friends and family back home.

The answer? Hugs. Lots of them. For an entire year, Schmidt made it her goal to hug at least one total strangerevery day -- brightening their day and her own. In this video produced by HooplaHa, she says she loves to hug people who look like they are having a rough day. “All that stress kind of melts away,” she says.

Schmidt even decided to write about her experience, sharing stories of her memorable 365 days of hugs.

Share the love (and this video) and make an ordinary day a little happier! How many people have you hugged today?

Is it OK to hug a co-worker?

Etiquette experts said hugging a co-worker is sometimes acceptable and even welcome.

More than one-third of the nearly 20,000 people who took our poll said they do hug at work, and more than one-third said they occasionally have been known to do so.

Many huggers defended the practice.

“Let's not get so PC that we can't be human beings with feelings,” one reader wrote.  Some said they have health issues and sensitivities that make hugging uncomfortable. Others just said they find it physically awkward.

“No. I'm short and my face usually winds up in your armpit area or I have to stand on tiptoes. It makes me feel like a child - an angry child,” one reader wrote.

Standing Before God

We talked with a young girl named Cherokee about standing before God one day and at the end of our talk she did something amazing.  This was possible because you support K-LOVE financially or through prayer.  You can listen to the conversation below.
