Blood Water Mission

Join us as we bring clean water to Uganda through Blood Water Mission!

It’s a big commitment to not drink anything but water for Forty days. But from February 22nd to April 7th, that’s exactly what we’re asking you to do. It’s a lot easier if you do it with other people like your friends or family. Remember, Sundays are feast days! You get to enjoy your favorite beverages one day out of the week, which will remind you just how much you miss them the other 6 days.

Be sure to visit the webstore to order a new Forty Days of Water bottle to remind you to head to the tap!

By giving up what you’d normally drink in exchange for the water from your tap you can save that money to help build clean water projects for communities in Uganda. You can stay updated on the work you are enabling by reading the Blood Water Mission blog and project updates.

Tools for parents

Ways to Spy on (keep track of) Your teen driver.

GPS-based tracking systems can record where your teen drives and his or her behavior along the way.

When the DriveCam video feedback system senses risky driving, it records a few seconds of what the driver is doing and seeing. The footage is sent to DriveCam, where it is analyzed by a safety professional. Once a week, parents are sent a report that includes the footage and advice on how to improve.

The CarChip Pro records data and allows parents to set thresholds for speed, acceleration and braking. If these thresholds are exceeded, a beeping sound alerts the driver. At $119, it is one of the more cost-effective options.

The iGuardianTeen app, for example, disables texting and calls. A report is sent to parents after every driving session, and includes information about top speeds, duration of thetrip and any excessive G-force events triggered by sudden braking or swerving. The program alerts parents if the app is shut down. It is only available for Android phones and costs $4.99.

Linsanity?

What is LINSANITY!?  Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks most recent addition as starting point guard, scored 38 points against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers recently – Jeremy Lin put aside his record-setting scoring to hand out a career-best 13 assists, and the New York Knicks got back to .500 with their seventh-straight victory, 100-85 over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.

Despite the Linsanity, the Knicks' newest point guard insists that he is only trying to glorify God with his skills on the court.
Check out his underdog story: Lin was undrafted by the NBA. His hometown team, the Golden State Warriors, wouldn't play him and eventually cut him.
It took a rash of injuries and total desperation to get Lin into the Knicks' lineup.  Until the past two weeks, Jeremy Lin was entirely unwanted by the NBA, and before that, major college basketball had little interest in him.
Lin would one day like to be a pastor who can head up non-profit organizations, either home or abroad.  He has also talked of working in inner-city communities to help with underprivileged children.
"I'm thinking about how can I trust God more. How can I surrender more? How can I bring him more glory," Lin said in a Mercury News report. "It's a fight. But it's one I'm going to keep fighting."  "There is so much temptation to hold on to my career even more now," Lin admitted.
