Got a Doughnut Story?

The first Friday of June every year is National Doughnut Day!  A day that commemorates the efforts of the Salvation Army, who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.

So what do you think of when it comes to doughnuts?  Do you have a special story or memory associated with doughnuts?

Wow, God

God is amazing.  And He is into the details of your life.

Have you ever had a friend tell you a story from their life, a story so amazing, so intricate, so undoubtedly supernatural--you find yourself thinking about it for days, and uttering under your breath "Wow" each time it crosses your mind?  The God stories of life are the best stories ever written.

How about you?  Do you have a "Wow, God" story to share?  If so, share it here in the comment section, so everyone can read it!  Or if it's just too personal for everyone to read, but you still want to share it with us, email it to Lisa&Eric@klove.com.

Maybe it's a story from this week, maybe it's in conjunction with an amazing graduation, or an upcoming wedding... Or maybe it's your story from 20 years ago that is so powerful, so supernatural, so amazing--it seems like it just happened yesterday. Share and give us all a glimpse of God--and imagine us all saying "wow"!

Hear some of the WOW stories we heard this morning (click links to listen):

Hurricane Season

Today is the beginning of "Hurricane Season".  Now, you may live in an area that doesn't have to worry about hurricanes, but for some, hurricanes are an all-too-real part of your life.

For those of you have never encountered one before, here are some of things people do to prepare for hurricanes (from the National Hurricane Center):

Discuss the type of hazards that could affect your family. Know your home's vulnerability to storm surge, flooding and wind.

Locate a safe room or the safest areas in your home for each hurricane hazard. In certain circumstances the safest areas may not be your home but within your community.

Determine escape routes from your home and places to meet. These should be measured in tens of miles rather than hundreds of miles.

Have an out-of-state friend as a family contact, so all your family members have a single point of contact.

Make a plan now for what to do with your pets if you need to evacuate.

Post emergency telephone numbers by your phones and make sure your children know how and when to call 911.

Check your insurance coverage - flood damage is not usually covered by homeowners insurance.

Stock non-perishable emergency supplies and a Disaster Supply Kit.

Use a NOAA weather radio. Remember to replace its battery every 6 months, as you do with your smoke detectors.

Take First Aid, CPR and disaster preparedness classes.
