Jake wants to Make a Difference

Jacob McConahay is a little boy from Indianapolis with cancer - stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a very aggressive cancer that started in his leg and now has spread to other areas of his body.  Instead of focusing on his own suffering, Jake wants to make a difference in the lives of other kids in children's hospitals by giving them something warm and comforting they can hold - he hopes to get over 1000 Pillow Pets for other sick kids.  You can find out more about Jake and how you can help by clicking here.

The Cause Within You - Matthew Barnett

For 17 years, Matthew Barnett has Pastored and overseen the Dream Center in Los Angeles - a place that has reached out and provided hope for the homeless, addicts, the abused and runaways.  Matthew says his life really changed when he finally scrapped his plans, starting serving people and found out what plan and cause God had for him.

We had a chance to catch up with Matthew this morning to talk about the Dream Center, his new book "The Cause Within You" and even Charlie Sheen!  To hear parts of our conversation, click the links below.

He Scaled Everest ... With A Blind Man!

Scaling Everest is an amazing, death-defying feat ... how about doing it while guiding a blind man?!  That's exactly what skier, climber and mountaineer Eric Alexander did when he guided Erik Weihenmayer to the summit of Everest - making Weihenmayer the first and only blind man to make it to the top of Everest!

Defying the odds and naysayers, Eric Alexander says that helping someone else achieve their dreams provided the motivation to complete the 2-and-a-half-month long climb.  And in the process, he was able to achieve his dreams.

In addition to being a mountain climber, Eric tours the country as a motivational speaker (he also has upcoming appearance on the 700 Club on January 4) - For more on Eric, check out his site www.highersummits.com

World AIDS Day - Kay Warren

World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1 each year around the world. It has become one of the most recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate those who have passed on, and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services.

Today, Kay Warren joins us to talk about what the church can do and how we all can pray and do something when it comes to HIV/AIDS.  In fact, today, Kay and her husband Pastor Rick Warren will be hosting a special live virtual event on the web - you can check it out HERE
