Snorting Boston Terrier

My dad's dog can count! He will tell the dog to count to any number up to six, and the dog will bark that many times and stop.

It is adorable!

After our Golden Retrievers got the basics down - we taught them to Sit and Down before we set their bowl of food down at night -- it keeps us from being mugged, tripped, or otherwise hurt or having the food knocked out of our hand while feeding them.  Since they are long haired dogs, we have taught them to shake after bathing or swimming so the water stays in a slightly more contained area.

This is cute. My dogs don't do any special tricks, but their favorite toy is an empty toilet paper roll... we stopped buying dog toys years ago when we figured that out. A couple of our goats though, have learned to weave through our legs and do things that a dog would do on an agility course. Terriers have never ending energy, so it might be a good idea to make an agility course for your dog a little later.

When my eldest son (USMC) was returning from Iraq, my younger son taught our dog to salute: she sits on her haunches and brings her right paw up next to her head - it's adorable and my older son LOVED it!  She will also drop dead when you shoot her (with your finger), rolls over, shakes, high-fives and slides her paw across your hand if you tell her "Give me some skin".

You were just sharing a section of a book you're reading - the section was about a older man sharing with a younger man about Saturdays in your life and how many you have.  I know you said how many years the older gentleman was basing his numbers on, but I was so intense listening to what you were reading I don't remember how many year he was basing it on can you tell me? Scott--read up on clicker training! I never used it until a trainer showed me. (Our most recent pup had some serious issues so I called a trainer.) I had "trained" four dogs (3 were herding breeds) previous including a black lab to hunt. But when I learned how to clicker train for tricks! WOW! It is great

My friend has a yorkie.  It can dance, walk, speak, shake, lay down, roll over, knows all toys by name and if you lay them out it will pick the toy you call out.  Oh, did I mention it rings a bell to go out to potty.

My dog Coco does many things...but 2 of my favorite are running on a treadmill and putting her toys away. Some days if she's been left home alone all day, she will stand on the treadmill looking up at the leash almost asking/waiting for me to hook her up and turn on.  She goes 30-60 minutes at 3.6  It's awesome!  At the end of day if all of her toys are out, I say lets put your toys away...she runs to the back door for me to open and then 1 by 1 she picks them up, runs back inside, thru the house to her toy bin and drops then in.  I watch and if she misses the bin, I say you missed, she turns around and picks it up and puts it it.  I have videos of both that friends crack up at.  Love my Coco!

I have a Boston named Baxter. I was thrilled when I heard that you had gotten one, they are the BEST dogs ever. Mine is obsessed with his "rope". We have tried to buy new ropes to replace the old, ratty, torn up one but he LOVES the old one. I've had to re-braid it several times. My husband and I along with friends and family have been entertained hours on end by this special little dog. He's my baby!!!

Scott Dogs are awesome! We have 2 labs and a cocker spaniel. My husband has taught all three of them POISON! It is so cute - he will give them a treat and let them taste and eat it and then he will try and give them another one yet tell them it is poison, my male lab will go as far as spitting the treat out of his mouth to get rid of the poison. It is all done by the tone of his voice. They love to perform! They can also count, backwards from 5 and my male lab goes deep to play fetch. Enjoy your new little bundle of joy and have fun teaching him.

first the barking cat and now the snorting dog....that is so funny. Ironically so my daughters JUST yesterday taught our dog a trick and it was so funny, I had to post it on your facebook page. Hope you enjoy it.

That is too cute! We have two little doggies ourselves. A Yorkie named Rusty and a ShiTzu named Roadie and they love doing tricks especially for treats. I think their best trick is that they whisper! Too bad it doesn't work when they are barking at other dogs!

tricks come from spending a lot of time together and are built on trust and love.  if you need to learn how to train, hire a trainer for an hour or two to show you and your dog.  patience, love, some time and a focus on safety initially, teach him the basic obedeince stuff, then things designed to keep him away from hazzards. there are obedience classes offered in most towns by trainers, good place to start socializing and training.

I went home,(Wilmington, NC) for my birthday to visit with my 86 year old mother. While driving back to the TN mountains, (now home) I was listening to K-Love. You mentioned training your dog,so I just had to tell you about my childhood dog, Prince. We trained him to say grace. My dad would put a dog biscuit on his nose. Dad would them look at him & say grace. My dog would sit there patiently holding the biscuit on his nose. As soon as one of us would say Amen, he would move his head, let the biscuit fall & bite it before it ever hit the floor! I so hope Prince is waiting for me at rainbow bridge when I go to meet my maker. Have a Blessed Day!

My dog Bailey winks on command...I find it amazing. When she was first learning, I gave her treats. She developed a weight problem, so I would reward her by going outside to throw her ball. Now, she brings me the ball, makes eye contact, and winks. Who trained who?

We have a 2 yr old boston terrier (or should I say daughter;D ) She is like our child and is spoiled rotten! She has a play ball that she can hit with her nose, we hit it up on the roof and she waits for it to roll off then hits it in the air and continues to chase it around the yard barking at it. Her name btw is Abby Kate and she is of course adorable Gotta love a boston!

My Boston, Coush Coush,was given to me by a friend when mine had to be put to sleep.

In Louisiana Coush means sleep, something she loves to do on my husbands lap. He asks her to get down when he needs to get out of the chair, she does, but immediately gets back in until he returns.
She knows when its bed time and goes to her bed.

This is so cute; but I don't think the dog is snorting.  I think it is giggling!  

Boston Terriers are like potato chips, you can't have just one. We have two and one snores louder than a freight train...great dogs!
