Making a Difference & Aftermath Steps

I think you will find many people on the East coast who don't agree that Irene was a non-event.  Yes, it could have been much worse. We are very fortunate that the storm weakened before making landfall. But it was a huge storm and has caused lots of devastation on the east coast all the way into the northeast.  I do believe prayers were answered.  I also believe that because of the media coverage people heeded the warnings, boarded up, and many people evacuated.  Weather is something that we don't control.  Much information is studied in a effort to forecast these storms, but the bottom line is they can't really know what the storm is going to do until it does it.  At that point it may be too late.  They must err on the side of caution.
