Well Water

If you are really tired today you might stop and get one of those energy drinks, and this one might sound like just the thing you think you need.

I saw it at the convenience store yesterday. The tagline was “happiness in every bottle - helps reduce stress, enhances mood, and promotes a positive outlook." Oh and BONUS it's only 35 calories.

Done. Bought it. It might have worked, for like 10 minutes while I was driving my daughter to Ballet class. But, if I really wanted to feel that all the time I would have to buy cases of this stuff.

Then it hit me. I actually already have it.

In the bible there's a story about a woman at a well. This woman was using relationships with many men to try to fulfill her, and make her happy. Jesus knew it, he came up to talk to her, didn’t judge her. He said:

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, (talking about the well of relationships that she was going to) but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst."

And that water is calorie free and won’t cost you $3.49. Jesus can give you everything you need. You just have to let Him in.

Hide and Seek

This might freak you out a bit - at least the though did for me at first, but then I found it incredibly comforting.

If you decide you don't want anything to do with God, He still wants you.

It's up to you. You could deny Him, you could deny the whole story of Jesus, saying that there's no way that's true. There's no way He healed those people, no way He died and came back to life. Maybe you think he was just a nice person that taught us some nice things. Maybe you are just going to keep following all the rules, hoping that that will be enough.

He still loves you. He still pursues you.

I read this in my bible today:

If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. - Psalm 139

I don't mean to scare you by saying "you can run, but you can't hide!" But it's kind of true. You will never win at a game of Hide and Seek with God. At some point you just stop running and hiding, and just come home.
