Jul 01 2013

July 1. Depending on how you look at it, half the year is over, or you have half the year yet to go.

Talking to a friend today who alerted me that half the year is over, it’s July 1. I hadn’t thought about it that way. This friend was lamenting that he hadn’t accomplished what he wanted to. I added "yet."

There’s still another half a year left. If you feel like you’re not quite where you want to be, there’s still time to get there.

Think about it this way. 2013 is like a trip around the block. You're halfway home. If your first half wasn't that great, then maybe it’s time to make a plan, speed up your pace, and make the second half really count.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. -Joshua 1:9

Here's some motivation for you to finish 2013 strong:

The first half of the year wasn’t that great for Roseann Sdoia from Boston. You see, she likes to run, and is a fan of watching the sport, and this year she was waiting at the finish line of The Boston Marathon when a bomb exploded. She lost her leg.

But, now she has the rest of the year to learn how to walk on an artificial limb. Her goal is to keep moving - literally. She even wants to start running again.

Man, now I want to make some goals and finish 2013 strong too.

What is it that you want to accomplish in the second half of 2013?

We Won't Be Shaken

Whatever will come our way
Through fire or pouring rain
We won’t be shaken
We Won't Be Shaken // Building 429.

I don't know about you, but I wish I could live like that every day. I admit to you, there are many things that come my way that have shaken me, knocked me down.

I was talking to a friend about this yesterday who was dealing with medical stuff. The waiting process for the results were debilitating. We can get so caught up in worrying about the unknown and being afraid of things that haven't even happened yet. In her case, it didn't happen.

She got the all clear.  As we talked, celebrated, thanked God, we realized we need to remember this moment for the next time that something comes our way that is unexpected. Remembering how God provided this time, so expecting him to do it again.

Hopefully, next time, we won't be shaken.
