Just Pray

Today, I want to free you from any guilt or shame about your prayers not being good enough.

Maybe you've experienced one of these moments too. You're at the dinner table, or at church when someone says an amazing long prayer, full of big words and bible verses, and you think - wow, I must not be doing this right. So you say AMEN, and feel not good enough.

Your prayers are not performances, they are personal conversations.

Today is the National Day of Prayer. The idea is a focused day of prayer for our country, and our leaders. You can find events going on in your hometown at K-LOVE.com

Or, you can just set aside time during your busy day to pray on your own. For our country, or just talk to God about your worries. Even if you don't know exactly what to say.

I started my day saying a prayer like this,

"God, you know all my worries, you also say you will supply all my needs and your grace is sufficient to get through it. God, I trust you today. Help me trust you even more, so much that I don't worry about my future, and am able to enjoy what you've given me for today. -Amen"

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" -Philippians 4:6

Lunch Box Etiquette

The pressure to eat well and to be healthy… is intense. If you want to go through the drive thru, you almost have to hide it.

Especially if you have kids in school, where all the focus on reducing childhood obesity. I get it, the effort is good, but It makes moms do crazy things!

Take this morning for example. My daughter, Emily, asked for a hot dog in her lunch box. No problem. But then I started to think about what her teachers will think of me - sending that hot dog.

I wanted to write a note or attach the label with it saying:

“This is a gluten free, turkey hot dog. There are no nitrates. It's made from free range organic turkeys with no antibiotics. It's produced in a cruelty-free factory where there is no testing on animals." - Wait that ‘s the label on my lipstick.
