Life is only in the present.
It's surprising that news like this is always so surprising. You have probably heard by now about the passing of actor James Galdolfini, 51. Reports say he had a heart attack while on vacation with his son in Italy.
I don't know about you, but news like this is a wake-up call for me. I live so much of my life just surviving day to day. I focus on striving for the next accomplishment, the next great show, the next blog I can write. My brain is always churning for what's next. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, as long as it doesn't distract me from "what's now".
We can get so focused on filling out all the little boxes on our calendars for the future, that we gloss over living in that little box for today. Oh God help me do this better. Trying to control my tomorrow is exhausting. I want to just enjoy and trust God for what He has for me, today.
It's interesting, when I asked this question on Facebook today, about How you will make the most out of the box on your calendar for today. Most people's response was to spend time with the ones they love, and tell them how much they mean to them.
Life is the present, and life is about the people in your present. Love on them today.
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. -Matthew 6:34 MSG
