No Regrets

Making a big life change is pretty scary, but what's even scarier, regret.

I think about that every time I hear the song "Slip On By" from Finding Favor.  It's the kind of song that makes you want to live differently.

It was inspired by a fishing trip with a Grandpa.  But, it was more than a fishing trip.  He imparted his wisdom to his Grandson about what's really important in life- time with loved ones.

My favorite part is after the stories of what the Grandpa missed out on, his grandson makes a change in his life.  The song finishes with these lyrics:

And I drove home as fast as I could go, just to let her know,
That I need her, that I love her,
That I'm never gonna let another moment like this slip on by.
Don’t let it slip on by.
We’re only here for a little while
And God gives us only so much precious time
So don't let it slip on, don't let it slip on, don't let it slip on by.
Don’t let it slip on by.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to have regret.  Does this song encourage you to live life differently?  If so, how?

A Cure For Bullying?

This just might be a cure for bullying.

I heard this thing about how one tribe in Africa deals with this issue. I'm not sure if it’s true, but it's a great idea.

When someone does something hurtful and wrong, they take the person (the bully) to the center of town, and the entire tribe comes and surrounds him. For two days they’ll tell the man every good thing he has ever done.

The tribe believes that every human being comes into the world as GOOD, each of us desiring safety, love, peace, and happiness.

But sometimes in the pursuit of those things people make mistakes. The community sees misdeeds as a cry for help.

They band together for the sake of their fellow man to hold him up,  remind him who he really is.

Makes you think differently about that bully in your past, maybe even yourself.
