Changing Focus

Woke up this morning worrying through my prayers, but then I read this and was able to change my focus.  I hope it helps you too.

"Some say worry is the most common—although unintentional—form of prayer. It is a habit of focusing on negative possibilities, and it drains one’s energy and blocks effective action." - The Daily Word

Not worrying is easier said than done. I heard a pastor once explain it like watching TV. You can leave it on the channel that is playing an endless loop of your mistakes and worries, or you can change the channel and focus on the possibility of a positive solution.

Speaking Out

There's a story in the news about a teenager from Pakistan... who is living proof that it's possible.

Malala Yousafzai. She is fighting for the right for girls in her country to go to school, and she was shot because of it.

She is recovering now. "God has given me this new life, " she says ,"and this is a second life. This is the new life and I want to serve the people."

She's still fighting.

I don't know about you, but her story makes me not want to take my freedom for granted. Instead of complaining about sitting in the long carpool line this afternoon at my daughter's school, I will appreciate that my daughter get to go.
