Gold Medal Moments

The moment when you realize all your hard work has paid off.  There's a lot of those moments on display right now during The Olympics.

I got a big kick out of the moment last night when Missy Franklin, 17, an American Swimmer, won a Gold Medal.  She told a reporter, "Just seeing my parents...it means the world that they could be here and I know that God has given me so much, and for them to be here, watch, and be with me and experience it, is so much."

In that moment, her hard work paid off and her parent's obvious dedication to teaching her about a relationship with God paid off as well.  It seems like Missy’s parents should get a gold medal too!

I heard from a K-LOVE listener, Diane, about a "Gold Medal Moment" she had recently too...

“My 22 year old daughter, who we struggled with her all through junior high making bad decisions, over the last couple years she’s really turned her life around back to Christ.   And she left me a note last week, I woke up to it next to my pillow.  It said, “Dear Mom, I want you to know you’ve been prayed for today.”

That note is her gold medal!  Frame it and put it on the mantel!

Tell me about your "Gold Medal Moment"...

Be Confident In This...

Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas

If you’re following the Olympics, you might be a little tired today too after staying up to watch the American Women Gymnasts compete for just 2 spots for the All Around competition. It was cut throat.

This was better that a movie!  I can just hear the movie trailer voice over guy say,  "one girl’s heartbreak, is another’s dream come true."

Gotta hand it to Gabby Douglas, she got one the spots.

When a reporter asked her how she kept her nerves in check during the competition.  She said it was by meditating on the scripture, “be confident in this.”

It may have been Philippians 1:6  “being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
