You Can Stand the Heat

When you go through change in life you tend try new crazy things.  Maybe you have an experience like this.

I remember when I became a single mom, I needed something to do on the night my kids were visiting their Dad, so I decided to try one of those HOT exercise classe, where’s it’s 104 degrees in the room for 90 minutes. It’s crazy.

I remember telling my therapist how much I loved it, and that the goal was just to stay in the room the whole time, to not give up.

She said, “sounds a lot like your life.”

Maybe that’s why this woman did this, just a guess.  They call her an Adventurer, Felicity Aston, just became the first woman to ski solo across Antarctica

She hauled two sledges around crevasses and over mountains into endless headwinds, pushing onward and onward for 59 days in near-total solitude, and covered over 1-thousand miles.

First thought in my head, “WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO DO THAT!”  I searched online, but couldn’t find the answer, but, I did find out what she learned.

She said, "If you can just find a way to keep going, whether you're running a marathon, facing financial problems, or it's tough at work…if you can just find a way to keep going, then you will discover that you have potential within yourself that you never realized.  Keeping going is the important thing, persevering, no matter how messy it gets.  Because at some point in the future you'll look back and just be amazed at how far you've come.”

Know what she means.  I’m there now.

Trading your dream in for God's cause....

Sometimes it's not by choice...sometimes that dream is stolen form you.  Thinking about Gabby Giffords today.  She was shot in the head...learning to walk and talk again, and just had to resign from Congress to heal...but vows she will return.

Reading a book about htis by Matthew Barnett called "The Cause Within You"....He said, "Getting back up again is not only good for you but for a world that desperately needs the comeback story within you."

You do not have to be famous to make a difference.

Saw this story about a young man who was a high school baseball star....he joined the Marines out of school....was sent to Afghanistan....where a roadside bomb took his legs.

He didn't know if he would even survive let alone walk, run or play ball again.

But, on a recent Saturday afternoon...he played ball.  Along with a bunch of other amputees in the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Teams.  They travel the country and raise money for charities...

All of the infielders are missing at least one of thier legs...one outfielder is missing a hand and the rightfielder plays without his entire left arm and shoulder.  At the end of the game he challenges his two armed opponents to a push up contest...He always wins!

You think your too messed up for God to use you...NO way!  It's the messed up people that make the most difference.
