Life, Death, and Push Alerts

If you have one of those smart phones that has push alerts on it, you might find those pop ups when breaking news happens, this might have interrupted you too this weekend.

There were 2 news alerts about celebrities who had passed away.  Actress, Marcia Wallace, from  "The Bob Newhart Show" and "The Simpsons"; and musician, Lou Reed.

Whenever that stuff happens, at first it feels like an interruption, but for me it was a reminder to wake up!

You only get one chance at this life.  You only get one trip around the block.  And in a moment, or a push alert, it could be over, and someone dismisses the news and moves on with their day.

I don't know about you, but I don't want my life to be easily dismissed.  I want to stand for something.  I want to stand up to encourage others that they are not wasted, that they are loved and that  God has a purpose for them.  I have decided to work for God and make the name of Jesus famous, so I better go all out!

Christian author Barbara Baumgardner quoted this fabulous anonymous quip about death.  I have it by my desk, hopefully it will inspire you too:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow. What a ride!'"
