Good News

There’s this social experiment called The Listserve.  I told you about it a couple of days ago.   They call it an e-mail lottery.  You’re not going win millions of dollars, but you could win a chance to speak to a million people.

One person a day wins a chance to write to this growing list of subscribers. Right now it’s at about 10,000.  You sign up give them your email, and, you’ll also get the email of the person that wins that day.

Kind of cool.  Hoping that people use this for good and not to rant.

Turns out they are.

I got signed up for this and got this email yesterday:

There's good news, and then there's GOOD NEWS. It's good news when an unexpected check comes in the mail, or when your kid comes home with improved grades. But GOOD NEWS is life-changing. Today I'd like to talk about the best news I ever received. Here it is:

There is forgiveness for my failings.

There is grace for my faults.

There is love I can't understand.

This was life-changing news for me, because at heart, I'm rotten. I'm selfish. I'm a liar. Even when I do good things, too often I do them to try to impress other people, or to try to prove to myself that I'm not that bad, even when I know deep down that I really am.

People talk about karma; karma scares me. I'll never be a good enough person to deserve what I want. This is why this really good news changed my life.

The GOOD NEWS is that God knows me, knows all about me - and that he loves me anyway. That he offers me forgiveness if I'll just accept it. And that he offers me grace every day, and the chance to really be a changed person.

God sent his son, Jesus, to earth for all of us. He lived a perfect life. He was the only person who karma really should've fully rewarded, and instead he died in my place, in your place. And then he didn't stay dead, but instead demonstrated the power to conquer death. One day he's going to come back to earth to set things right.

That's the best news I've ever received. It changed my life. It can change yours, too, if you'll believe it.

Mother's Day

Maybe you’re shopping for just the right cardreading them all in the aisle at the grocery storelove that feeling when you find the PERFECT ONEgetting ready for Mother’s Day this weekend

As a single mom, I admit Mother’s Daykind of feels empty, like a non-event without someone there to celebrate with.  But, my mom is still alive so I still have her to celebrate.  I’d really like to do something special for her.  She’s my rock.

Love to know maybe what you’re doing for your mom or something you’ve received that you really appreciated and loved.

I saw this cool thing that Cure International is doing.  Mom's helping other mom's in need. Maybe if your mom has just about everything, you could help another mom in need.  Here's one idea:

Call me 800-900-1300 or let me know on Facebook.

Maybe a gift you’ve always wanted, but never got.
