Oh Jackie O

When you feel like you’re at the end of your rope…you what they say, “tie a knot and hang on!”

Just when you like life as you know it is over…it moves on.

Maybe you’ve seen all the news about the Jackie Kennedy tapes and the new book that has just been released today.  It’s all over the place.  Big special on ABC News tonight about it.  It’s her voice…recordings made by a historian that they just released on her opinion on history and happenings in the White House while her husband was President.  I found it interesting her take on the Cuban Missle Crisis.  She refused to leave the White House.  She stayed by her husband’s side…at the time…the whole country thought life as they knew it was over…they were prepared to die.

It reminded me of 9-11.  Those days and weeks right after…we thought life as we knew it was over…that another attack could happen at any moment…that we would never be the same…but life went on and we recovered.

We recover from those life changing events…even when at the time we think we won’t ever get over it.  I think about driving your first child home from the hospital.  You’re in a daze driving so slow wondering why everyone else is in such a hurry.  Don’t  they know that you have the most important person in the world in your backseat.

Or…I remember the day my marriage broke apart, I remember thinking how can I ever smile again…how are people happy…how dare they?

But, we do get over it.  Sometimes those events are tragic in our lives and like Jackie Kennedy we think we won’t survive, but we always do.  At first you have to take life in small chunks during a crisis.  Hour by hour…day by day…than finally week by week…than 6 months goes by and life is

different.

We didn't think we would make it through the Cuban Missle Crisis…9-11…but we did.  And you can get through your crisis too.  It's better if you do it with God holding your hand.

Your scripture today, For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Eph.2:10, reminded me of something God lead me to. I am the men's ministry leader of The Rock Church of Mountain View, Ca., and when I was studying for a lesson that I would share with the men at our monthly prayer meeting, God directed to that scripture. I wrote down, "God is the artist that paints the canvas, which is my life". I am a fan of Norman Rockwell and I have a picture of his studio, where he painted his beautiful art. He enjoyed his solitude while painting, rather than setting up this easel in the family room of his home. His wife, kids, or friends would constantly be peering over his shoulder, critiquing his decisions, which would drive anyone nuts! Well, God being the artist who is painting our lives, we shouldn't be standing over his shoulder, questioning His decisions for our lives. Rather, we should be thankful we have a heavenly Father who knows even the number of hairs on our head ( and that's not very many in my case ), and we should realize He wants the best for us. We should never second guess His will for our lives, instead, we should walk by faith, knowing He is in control.
Have a blessed and wonderful day and enjoy those children while you can, they grow up fast. I was sitting in church one day, and my daughter wanted to sit on my lap, lay her head on my shoulder. I realized, at that time, that was probably the last time she would sit on my lap, and it was. They will be asking for the keys to the car (or space shuttle) before you know it!

WOW. That's all I can say. WOW. Poor Jackie....

It hit me when she said "I want to die with you..." she didnt know what was coming ahead. That her husband was going to be asassinated and she was WITH him and BESIDE him when he was shot. His head quite literally "exploded", and his blood went all over her dress. I just feel so sorry for her and her family....
