"If you don't know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else." -Laurence J. Peter
Took a quick trip over the weekend to meet with some of you awesome K-LOVE listeners in San Antonio and fill up on some yummy Tex Mex food.
On the plane, I sat next to a father of four grown children, so I picked his brain on how he did it. I need all the help I can get.
He said they wanted to raise kids to love and serve God, so they came up with a 5 pillar family motto:
Be Clean
Be Happy
Be Positive
Take Care of each other
Ask what you can do to help and than do it.
They ran every decision they made, and every behavior through those 5 pillars. The kids are all grown now, and they still talk about those 5 pillars.
I love to have a plan and I am an obsessive list maker. I naturally love the idea of having a plan for your family to grow and be successful. Why not have plans for your family? You may have a plan for your career, a budget and savings for college. I don't want to guess at how to get to the destination of raising children to love and serve God, so I want to have a plan on how to get there.
We are raising future adults, after all.
Tell me what's your family mission or motto?
