It's Overwhelming

Maybe you are feeling this too as you see the days ticking away getting closer to Christmas, that dreaded feeling of being overwhelmed by it all.

You might still have gifts to buy.  You might still be addressing Christmas cards

This is supposed to be “the most wonderful time of the year”…but for many of us this Christmas is tough.  Maybe you’re missing someone, maybe your missing presents because you can’t afford it.

So, if you find yourself getting frustrated, or putting on brighter lipstick to pretend like you have it all together.  Just stop.

Maybe you could let yourself off the hook.  And let others off the hook this time of year too…for short tempers, forgetfulness, or imperfection.

Tell me what you could let yourself off the hook for this Christmas.

I admit to not having it all together.  Most nights I collapse exhausted on the couch thinking…how am I going to do this all again tomorrow?

Because Jesus makes up for your faults and inadequacies. God has not  forgotten about you or your needs.

Romans 8:28

The Message (MSG)

26-28 "Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good."

That is so true Amanda! I am very thankful to read this and be reminded that it is all about the peace that God's Spirit brings in us and no matter how overwhelming things are looking it will be great because He is God!

I still do my best to take it all in, but I agree with you in that this year as a single parent seems to be one of the busiest ever. I know he gets me through each and every day.
