A real life Good Samaritan story happened during Hurricane Isaac yesterday.
When the flood water was rising yesterday in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, families were caught off guard. Their homes filled with so much water that the only safe place they could go was to sit on top of their roofs and hope and pray that someone would come to their rescue.
Their prayers were answered.
A father and his son, went into action. Jesse Shaver III and Jesse Shaver the IV got into their fishing boats to check on their neighbors. As they rowed through rivers that used to be streets they saved 120 people.
At one point the son actually gave up his seat on the boat because there were too many people on one roof top to fit in the boat. He switched places with them and took the brunt of the storm for them. He sat on a rooftop waiting to be rescued in the middle of a Hurricane risking his own life for someone else. He was rescued by his father on his next pass.
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, love your neighbor as yourself. -Luke 10:27
