Speaking Out

There's a story in the news about a teenager from Pakistan... who is living proof that it's possible.

Malala Yousafzai. She is fighting for the right for girls in her country to go to school, and she was shot because of it.
She is recovering now. "God has given me this new life, " she says ,"and this is a second life. This is the new life and I want to serve the people."
She's still fighting.

I don't know about you, but her story makes me not want to take my freedom for granted. Instead of complaining about sitting in the long carpool line this afternoon at my daughter's school, I will appreciate that my daughter get to go.

Women of the US have so much to be thankful for and yet we take it for granted every day.  Have you been following the story about the young woman who was gang raped and murdered in India?  She was raped by 6 men and later died of internal injuries.  The headlines read:  "India Bus Gang Rape Trial: Victim's Friend Gives Evidence From Wheelchair" and "Defense Attorney Blames Victim in India Gang-rape, Murder Case".  -- Quote from article: "Guilt is not one-sided," Indian spiritual leader Asaram Bapu, told followers earlier in the week, adding that if the woman had pleaded with her six attackers in God's name, and told them she was of the "weaker sex," they would have relented, Reuters reported.--
