If you've been hurt by someone in your past and if you haven't forgiven them,
you end up being the one that's loosing. Your silence and your anger, isn't
hurting them. It's hurting you.
The band, Tenth Avenue North, has a song about that, it's called Losing.
The lyrics say:
I can't believe what she said
I can't believe what he did
Oh, don't they know it's wrong, yeah?
Don't they know it's wrong, yeah?
Maybe there's something I missed
But how could they treat me like this?
It's wearing out my heart
The way they disregard
This is love, this is hate...
We all have a choice to make
So if someone has hurt you, don't react the way everyone in our
culture says to.
The bible says, “Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of
those who curse you., implore God’s blessing upon those who abuse
you.” -Luke 6:28 (AMP)
I know it's a lot easier said then done. I'm with you.
Before anything else, I pray that God will give me the strength forgive, even if I have to
grit my teeth the first few times.
Try praying this prayer:
"Dear God help me forgive (insert name here), I don't want to be the
one losing. I pray that you would bring them happiness, and blessings
would come out of nowhere for them today." -Amen
Wash, Rinse, Repeat. :-) It's a process.
