Don't Freak!

What do you do when you face the unknown? Maybe it's an unexpected repair for your car, your house needs a new roof, or maybe an unexpected diagnosis.  I admit, usually my first reaction is to FREAK OUT!  Sometimes it's 5 minutes of anxiety, other times  it's 5 days. But eventually I realize, I should pray and ask God for help.

It's like a cycle.

1. Unexpected Event

2. Freak Out

3. Cry out to God.

You're not the only one that repeats this cycle.

It reminds me of that story when Jesus was in the boat with his disciples and fell asleep.  A storm came, the boat filled with water and they were in great danger.  And Jesus was just sleeping.  So the disciples tried to wake Jesus up saying "MASTER MASTER WE ARE PERISHING!" They were in the face of danger and freaked out, and they had Jesus physically with them in the boat.

I don't know about you, but that makes me feel better for sometimes freaking out when I feel like I'm sinking.

So the story (Luke 8:22-25) goes on and Jesus wakes up.  The bible says he "rebuked the wind and the raging water, and they ceased and THERE WAS CALM."

I circled those three words in my Bible.  God can do the same thing for you today.  He can rebuke the wind and the raging waters in your life.  It just takes you having faith that He can and asking Him to do so.

There's an end to the cycle:

1. Unexpected Event

2. Freak Out

3. Cry out to God

4. CALM.

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
