This is Your Life, are you who you want to be? -Switchfoot.
I don't know about you, but that song always makes me think about my legacy. I want to live life every day, not waste it away being depressed or limited by whatever situation I find myself in. I want to have my priorities in order.
I think that's why I was so confused and inspired by of all things, an Obituary today. It's causing a controversy.
It was in the New York Times, so you know it’s someone that’s a big deal. Her name is Yvonne Brill.
Here’s how her obit started:
She made a mean beef stroganoff, followed her husband from job to job and took eight years off from work to raise three children. "The world's best mom," her son Matthew said.
But Yvonne Brill, who died on Wednesday at 88 in Princeton, N.J., was also a brilliant rocket scientist, who in the early 1970s invented a propulsion system to help keep communications satellites from slipping out of their orbits.
The controversy is that people are calling it sexist because they didn't lead with the brilliant rocket scientist part. I happen to think they got it right.
