Your New Path

God is everywhere, therefore worry is unnecessary.  But, that's a lot easier said then done.

I will lead you down a new path, guiding you along an unfamiliar way.  I will brighten the darkness before you and smooth out the road ahead of you.  Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake you.  -Isaiah 42:16

My dear friend, reading that verse this morning, made me grin from ear to ear.  There are so many great promises in that one verse.  It's almost as if God is whispering in our ear, "It's going to be okay."  If you can think about that new thing that is coming that you are scared of, or putting off, this might encourage you to keep moving forward and to never give up on that dream.   Let's look what God promises for that "new thing" in those three sentences:

Something new is coming.  He doesn't lead us down the old path that we've been down a thousand times, tripping along the way.  He is promising us here a NEW PATH!  One that is so much better. I don't know about you, but I want to get off my old one and on that new path.  Oh please Jesu

It's a surprise!  The path is  "unfamiliar". So often we get some comfortable in our familiar routines.  You might take the same route to work everyday.  You're bored, yet comfortable.   Well, God's route has a surprise waiting for you around every corner, should you decide to jump on this ride!

You will have a lightbulb moment!  It's like that game we played as kids; Paper, Rock, Scissors.  Except for real life.  Light conquers dark.  Once you decide to jump on this roller coaster ride of following God, you can be assured that evil and darkness has no power of your life.  The doubt, worry, and confusion will be silenced, and the synapses will begin firing in your brain for good.  You will find inspiration.  Think of yourself as the statue of David with that lightbulb over your head.  "OH THAT'S IT!!!"  He will point out the direction to go on that new path, follow the light.  The trick is to be obedient.  Pick yourself up off that same old track you keep going round and round, follow the joy, the light, the new, not the old, the dark, and the familiar.

No more shaky ground.  Oh, this is my favorite.  If you find your life is shaky, and rocky, then look for another path.  One that is new, full of light, and FLAT!  Oh I love the promise here that God can take you bumps that are giving you whiplash and flatten them out, make your path smooth, if you allow Him too.  The amazing thing is, He's doing it a miles ahead of you.  He's out in front, like the leader of a Parade, smoothing out the surfaces.  Saying, "come on, you can do it, follow me, my path is the right way!"  You just get to follow.

No doubt necessary.  I love the fact that God understands our human condition and repeats his advice.  Just like a parent might repeat advice to a child before going into a restaurant.  "expect you to sit quietly, be polite, and eat all your food."  Hey, did you hear me?  I expect best behavior."  He's knows that we might think this is impossible, that we might think, "yea that sounds well and good, but really? So, he repeats himself and says.  Yes, my child I will do these things that I have promised.  I don't know about you, but I am breathing a big sigh of relief right now.

You are not alone.  Finally, the amazing assurance that this path we choose to walk on, we do not go alone.  Whatever your new path is.  Being brave and choosing to love someone after you have been hurt, going off to college, starting a new job, becoming a spouse, becoming a parent, serving Jesus with your career, whatever it is, you are not on that path alone.  He will not abandon you.  He will not give up on you.  Even if you might from time to time abandon or give up on Him.  He is there, just waiting for you to reach out and hold onto His hand for the most wild and rewarding ride of your life.

It's not just going to be okay, it's going to be more than okay.
