"I Can't Wait to get to Heaven." -Billy Graham.
The evangelist, Billy Graham, recently said that to Michael W. Smith. (Oh to be a fly on the wall for that conversation).
I wonder if his family liked hearing that. He is 94 years old, so I get it.
What an amazing thought. Imagine living your life in a way that you feel completely fulfilled, knowing that you accomplished what God wanted you to do, you made a difference in people's lives, and you're assured at your salvation.
Makes me want to make the most out of every day, and not keep so much for myself.
Everyone can have that sense of fulfillment and assurance in the promise of Heaven, not just Billy Graham. The Bible is very clear about this, but we get it confused, because it doesn't make sense to the human condition. There's nothing you can do to earn's God's love - or lose it. Trying to earn would completely ignore the sacrifice that Jesus made for you on the cross. Trying to earn what Billy Graham is so excited about - eternal life with God, would make the death of Jesus, pointless.
Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. -Romans 3:22-24 (The Message)
I can't wait either...
