Prayer to be Released from Regret

God, helps us no longer be burdened by regret, and instead be released to accept Your love:

The Lord is compassionate and gracious,

    slow to anger, abounding in love.

He will not always accuse,

    nor will he harbor his anger forever;

he does not treat us as our sins deserve

    or repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

    so great is his love for those who fear him;

as far as the east is from the west,

    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

-Psalm 103:8-12

Oh Lord, my heart aches for those that do not know this kind of love,  for those that mistakenly try to earn this love by how good they are, and for those that think that they can't walk through the doors of the church because they are too messed up.

Lord release us from wasted effort, and feelings of inadequacy. Let Your love pour in, so we can let it pour out on others... - In Jesus name, Amen.

Amanda, Thanks so much for that prayer of yours and Psalms.  It is a hard concept to grasp in a world that relies on various measurements of our worth... and sometimes it is hard, in the moment, to find the words or the scripture to release us of such a weight.  It is good to hear the voice of others reminding us of the Truth.

Also, on the Christmas in that town... Before Christmas in July was a wide-spread thing, in the long days of Summer being very young and alone in the world, I would always decorate wherever I lived for Christmas and play Christmas music when I was home.  And, I think that really, we should be celebrating Christmas ALL YEAR LONG.  Everyday that we call upon the Lord, which is Everyday (!) we are benefiting from the gift of the birth of Jesus.  If it were not for the birth of Jesus... where would we all be today?  This Salvation is something to be celebrated with lights and wreaths and candles and wonderful music and colorful decor and all the wonderful things of this holiday, ALL YEAR LONG.  Joy to the World!  Glory!  Hallelujah!! Happy Christmas!
