You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail.
And there I find you in the mystery.
Oceans // United
This is the song that would be playing on repeat on my earbuds if I was doing what 36,000 other people are doing right now, defying fear with every pound of the pavement.
They are determined to finish the race, that some of them couldn't last year. They are trying to be afraid or to worry about what happened at the finish line last year in the Boston Marathon.
I’m thinking some of them are praying. This is what happens when you take a step towards something you are afraid of; you pray harder, and you get closer to God. Maybe that's the point? Maybe that's why God tells us over and over again in the bible "do not be afraid", "be strong and courageous". I think He wants us to take steps towards what we are afraid of, so he can be with us. Because he knows that we will get down on our knees asking for help, and when we get through, it get down on our knees grateful that He did what he promised he would do.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7)
What is the race that God is asking you to run in? What is it that you are allowing fear to limit you? Maybe today is the day that you could take a step towards it, and a step deeper in your relationship with God?
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
and my faith will be made stronger.
Run my friend. Don't miss out.
