3 Statements to Change Your Kids' Lives

At the doctor's office the other day, I came across an interesting article.

A counselor claims that there are 3 statements you can say to your children that will significantly improve your parenting and the way your children behave.

 - "Do you need a hug?" Instead of lecturing a child on their actions and attitude.

 - "Do you want to talk about it?" When kids are upset, regardless of why.

 - "I am SO happy to see you!" The way you react when your kid enters the room is so important for their well-being and sense of self.

Affordable Date Night Ideas

We asked you for affordable date night ideas, and you gave some great suggestions! Here are just a few:

A prayer walk with my husband... -Angela Becker

My husband and I will sometimes go out on a lovely Saturday morning to open houses or model home sites. We walk around talk, dream, and get ideas for our own home. Together for 20 years and we still like to dream about what God has planned for us. -Sherry Husted

An old-fashioned picnic. And you can take your laptop or iPad and have a movie and dinner underneath the stars. -Jamie Sikes

Geocaching! My husband & I love to geocache together, especially on date nights. -Wendy Burkett

I came home one night to all of the furniture pushed up against the walls and every candle we had lit. We danced the night away in the living room. Just the two of us. Best date ever! And it cost nothing. -Mary Sherwood

1 Year Without Makeup

This week we had a caller tell us that she's gone an entire year without makeup and loves it!

If you wear it, have you ever tried a no-makeup fast? What was your experience with it?

STOP Day

We read something today that really impacted our view of how our weekends are spent. After a week of work, most people use their weekends to catch up on errands, get laundry done, and fix things around the house. Have we been doing it wrong all this time?

Instead of adding work to our "free" days, shouldn't we be using them to relax and enjoy them? Perhaps adding a STOP DAY- or day of rest- to our weekend routine could benefit us mentally and physically. Read more about the potential benefits here.
