The Class of 2016

This year’s college freshman, The Class of 2016 has no need for radios, watches television everywhere except on actual TV sets and is addicted to and has always lived in cyberspace.

Every year a private school in southeastern Wisconsin releases the Beloit College Mindset List– meant to remind teachers that college freshmen, born mostly in 1994, see the world in a much different way.

They have never seen an airplane “ticket.”

They can’t picture people actually carrying luggage through airports rather than rolling it.

There has always been football in Jacksonville but never in Los Angeles.

Their folks have never gazed with pride on a new set of bound encyclopedias on the bookshelf.

A significant percentage of them will enter college already displaying some hearing loss.

There have always been blue M&Ms

They grew up, somehow, without the benefits of Romper Room.

They watch television everywhere but on a television.

What Your Cat's Purr Really Means?

Why do cars purr?

What your cat is saying when it purrs.  People will smile when they’re nervous, when they want something, and when they’re happy, so perhaps the purr can also be an appeasing gesture.  There’s this subtle cry in a cat’s purr that has the same frequency of a babies cry.

Self Talk

A university study reveals that the average person hears 1,200 words a minute of self-talk.  1,100 of which were negative in most people!  Reveals the importance of Phillipians 4:8, "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

What are you telling yourself?
