Powerful words to read on 9/11

After 9/11/01, many of us memorized this passage of scripture, speaking it as a prayer for ourselves and those we love...

Psalm 91

Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God
 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
         Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
 2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
         My God, in Him I will trust.”

 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
         And from the perilous pestilence.
 4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
         And under His wings you shall take refuge;
         His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
         Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
         Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

 7 A thousand may fall at your side,
         And ten thousand at your right hand;
         But it shall not come near you.
 8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
         And see the reward of the wicked.

 9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,
         Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
 10 No evil shall befall you,
         Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
         To keep you in all your ways.
 12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
         Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
         The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

 14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
         I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
         I will be with him in trouble;
         I will deliver him and honor him.
 16 With long life I will satisfy him,
         And show him My salvation.”

Say "CHEESE"

New anchor Amy Baumann's son Eli had his first day of preschool on Thursday!  We were laughing about how our boys like to squint when they "smile for the camera."  I found this great website where you can get some tips on how to take pictures of your kids that look cool and professional.  Check it out.  And then share some of the amazing pics of your kids (or the funny smile/squinty eye pics:) on our Facebook page.  (BTW, Amy wanted me to point out that she had bought him the CUTEST first-day-of-school outfit, but he insisted on dressing himself in a sweatshirt, shorts and flip-flops:)  Thanks for letting us share our lives with you.  Peace and k-love, Lisa

Here are some cool 9 things I found in the Bible today...

Psalm 9:9  The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,
       a stronghold in times of trouble.

Psalm 99:9 Exalt the LORD our God
       and worship at his holy mountain,
       for the LORD our God is holy.

And then, check out these cool "nine" verses in the New Testament...

  1. Luke 15:7
    I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
    Luke 15:6-8 (in Context) Luke 15 (Whole Chapter)
  2. Luke 17:17
    Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?
    Luke 17:16-18 (in Context) Luke 17 (Whole Chapter)
  3. Acts 2:15
    These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning!
    Acts 2:14-16 (in Context) Acts 2 (Whole Chapter)

Reading the whole passages of the above "9" verses, I was so touched with God's passionate love over us, the importance for sincere and readily given thankfulness to Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit filling us so we can impact the world.  POWERFUL "9" STUFF!  The Bible never ceases to amaze me.  There is so much to read, so much to learn, so much to discover.  It is alive.  It changes us.

peace and k-love, Lis
