What TV show would you like to see return?

On this date in 1954 - The Tonight Show debuted on NBC-TV.

Originally hosted by Steve Allen from 1954-1957…also Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien…and back to Jay Leno who currently hosts the show.

If you could bring back any show from the past…what would it be?

I miss all the family comedies from the 90's that an entire family could sit around and watch together. I remember being so excited about "ABC's TGIF".

I miss 'The Lawrence Welk Show'.  As a child, I remember having to sit and watch that show due to my parents watching it.  Then I became a teenager, and I would not leave the house on Saturday night until the show was over.  This was when my father and I would sit and watch it together, a father/daughter event that my dad felt he could share with me.  Oh, and the 'Sonny and Cher' and 'Donny and Marie' Shows, my dad and I loved those shows!

My wife and I miss seeing Touched by an Angel and DOC.  Plus, back when I was young I liked a show called Stingray because I loved the '63 Corvette Stingray he drove.  Many of the shows I remember watching were entertaining and were family oriented.  Even ALF focused around the family and and alien living with them.

My family loved "Fair Exchange." It aired for a short time in the 1960's. If you want to see the Red Skelton show, go to Branson, MO. The actor is an mirror imagine of Red. He was a close friend of Red's and Red worked with him so the show could go on. He does the show at least 2 times per week, in the mornings, at The Mansion.  He is really, really good! If you didn't know Red was deceased, you'd think it was him.

I really enjoyed all the variety based shows of the 50's and 60's like Hollywood Palace, Ed Sullivan, Ted Mack's Amateur Hour.  I also loved Red Skelton's show and as a young girl in the 60's one thing that he said that has stuck with me my 51 years...when he ended his show he always said, "Good Night and MAY God Bless!"  He said one time as I was watching that people asked him why he would say MAY God Bless and his answer prompts me to thank him when I get to heaven.. He said he prefers to ask God to bless people rather than command Him as 'God Bless You' infers.  So I always end my oral or written communications with MAY God Bless You! as a result of Red's explanation of that respect for our Lord. So JD you are a light in the dark places of radio and we enjoy your show daily on our morning commutes.  MAY GOD BLESS YOU JD AND MAY GOD BLESS KLOVE'S MINISTRIES!

There were so many good shows from the past , there are too many to pick the best one. One thing is for sure.. TV of today is in no way as good as those good ole days. Hey JD,
I listen daily on my way to work, I have several shows that I remember watching as a child with my parents.  My dad watched Gunsmoke and Bonanza faithfully.  My mother watched Red Skelton, I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Carol Burnett just to name a few. I miss those good old clean, family friendly programming. I have wonderful memories of watching those programs with my parents and my mom making popcorn in a skillet not a microwave, that was the best.

Hi Brother Mark!

It has been such a joy to listen to you this morning!!!  Feel like I'm back at First Baptist in high school.  Smile  I see so many young married couples that look to their spouse to fill that deepest thirst and their marriages are failing.  If they would just realize that their spouses are an extra blessing from God and only Jesus can fill that void. I can't wait to get and give the Come to the Well CD.  I know it's going to change lives.

Thank you so much for your faithfulness to God and your discipline to stay focused on the important things, despite much worldly success.  Because of your faithfulness to seek God first and striving to know Him more everyday, God is truly able to speak LIFE through you.  Thank you for allowing Him to use you in all that you do.  You are an amazing communicator, encourager, motivator and a wonderful example of a man of God.  Keep on making disciples and changing the world one soul at a time!

With much love,

Riann (Ellarson) Boyd
