WHAT DOES 'BORN AGAIN' MEAN TO YOU?

I'm finding that responses to this question are greatly determined by the way you look at life! And maybe the way you looked at your own dad!

GREAT FILM!

Dean and I went to see Like Dandelion Dust this afternoon! Gotta tell ya - it had me in tears several times.  Based on Karen Kingsbury's book. Much more than an adoption story - it's about the human spirit!  PG13 for adult situations.  Here is a link to find out if it is in your neighborhood. Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino is great!

SWITCHFOOT LEAVES AN IMPRESSION IN SAN ANTONIO!

Tonite our promotion Manager in San Antonio, Raul,  called to talk about an amazing special needs 8 year old  K-LOVE listener.  His mom had signed up for him to win an autographed guitar that Switchfoot was giving away at a pre concert show. The mom said "I am winning that guitar for my son".  In a random drawing - her name was selected!  She told our promotion staff God told her she would win that guitar for her son - and she did! Here's the proof!

ON THE ROAD!

Spent a lot of miles this past week on I80! And, once you leave California, it is generally very smooth sailing!  Dean and I visited an aunt in SLC.  What a beautiful mountain range setting for a city! Then, on to our friends Mike and Kris, who we met in Nicaragua on a missions trip with Forward Edge.  Mike and his wife actually won the trip on a contest on K-LOVE, and we have come to know and love them. I admire their parenting skills for their 5 daughters! Mike and Kris live in Colorado and we had a great time going to the top of Lookout Mt with them and spending some time laughing and sharing with them. From there, we spent a few days with Deans folks in Holdrege, NB. And experienced a few hours at the NB State Fair. It was hard leaving them - knowing this could be the last time I see my father in law, who is slowly dying of congenital heart failure. I write this from my sisters home in Winfield, Il. We are moving mom from her house in McHenry to an assisted living place.  Emotional - but necessary step for many reasons. Hopefully we'll be seeing Donna and Mike while we are here. They won a trip to CA to see Third Day and thru circumstances that only God could put together...we got to know them! I fly to a conference this weekend in Portland and Dean drives home with a friend. Thanks for your prayers and I ask for you to pray for favor for Dean on the hiway and a safe drive home! Looking forward to visiting with you on the radio again starting Monday!

TRAPPED!

My 2 year old grandaughter, Jayel, is playing around under the kitchen table as my wife, Dean and Jayel's mom, Audra (my daughter) are talking.  All of a sudden, Jayel starts to whimper.  A quick look under the table and the problem is discovered....Jayel had managed to climb into the support of the table legs, but couldn't get out! It was only after Dean and I picked up the table slowly that Audra was able to guide her daughter out of the trap she had gotten herself into.....

How many times in my own life has that happened!....I just walk into trouble first, and then ask for help..instead of asking Him for help before I get myself in trouble. Jesus is waiting for us to ask Him first! He loves us so much and wants to keep us from the traps of life!

BLESSED BY THE MESS!

The grandkids were over yesterday for a short visit.  Who knew our quiet home could be transformed into a laughter filled, Toby Mac playin, dancing studio for a 2 year old girl and a 5 year old boy! All too soon it was over. They had left with their mom.  As I walked thru the house and saw a few toys and books scattered around on what used to be a clean and tidy floor...I realized how much I am appreciating those moments of clutter.  All too soon they will be too old for toy airplanes and kids books. I really did take comfort in seein the toys scattered around, and actually thought about leavin' the place messy so I could enjoy the grandkids a little longer....

HOW'S MY ATMOSPHERE?

Ozzy’s thoughts this morning really got me to thinkin.  You know…Ozwald Chambers? (August 4, My Utmost For His Highest) I always have to put on my waders when I read him because I soon find myself deep.  Anyway – it focused on this thought…We have to maintain our relationship with God, whatever happens. We must never allow anything to injure our relationship with God.  The main thing about Christianity is not the work we do, but the relationship we maintain and the atmosphere produced by that relationship.

That’s a huge chunk to digest right there. When I am at my worst, what is the atmosphere like around me? Am I continually giving Him praise? Or am I caught up in my own mess and taking a detour from His care?  What is God saying to you about that?
