Reminding people they're not alone one slice at a time!

Love the concept behind this! Making a difference by helping bless someone with a pizza!

I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in the idea that in order to make a difference it has to be a HUGE missions trip, or we have to start our own minsitry, when really,it could be the smallest gesture that makes the biggest difference :)

Life as a pencil...

When I got a forward from my mom today titled "the pencil sharpener" I sort of laughed and wondered if my mom was trying to tell me (in a not so subtle way) that she was going back to school! I typically just delete forwards (sorry if you've forwarded me something--if you attach a personal note, I'll read it, otherwise it meets the delete button!) but I had to see what sort of pencils my mom was trying to tell me about. I am thankful that I did. This pretty much sums up the forward... A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE BOX : 1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK. 2.) YOU CAN ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE. 3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU. 4.) IN LIFE , YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENINGS, BUT THEY WILL ONLY MAKE YOU BETTER. 5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.

No day is lost

Even from 2000 miles away my old church family still encourages me just by keeping me on the newsletter mailing list. This poem really just encouraged my soul! I wanted to share it with you as well.

No day is lost

sometimes you feel discouraged

when evening shadows come

and you look back, regretting

the 'little' that you've done.

Apparently the losses

far outweight the gain

and wearily you question

"Have I lived this day in vain?"

Remember this-No day is lost

In which you’ve tried to share the blessed news that Jesus saves,

and spend some time in prayer.

For your Father knows Your heart. He paid the ultimate cost.

Remember-if you’ve done your best for Him-No day is lost

Be encouraged my friends! No hour~no minute~no day is wasted when its lived for God :)

The pennies-74 cents taught me a lot more than I ever could have imagined

A couple weeks ago I came into work and I had 4 pennies sitting on my desk! So random-I was 4 pennies richer-but so confused about where they came from. The next day I came in and there were 12 pennies--the next, 22! What started as 4 dirty pennies placed on my desk out of nowhere over the course of a couple of weeks turned into 74 pennies!! I was holding out for a dollar! Once I had a dollar I was going to....well....I don't know what I was going to do with a dollar but it seemed like a good amount! I still had NO IDEA where the pennies were coming from or how they were multiplying but it was an exciting part of the day each time I'd walk in and see how many had been added. That was until tonight when I walked in and ALL my pennies were gone :( but I can't really call them my pennies anyways because they weren't mine to begin with.

Aside from feeling a tad bit like Nancy Drew and wanting to find out where the stash of pennies disappeared to,I was quickly humbled by the reminder to not hold on too tightly to things that aren't ours to begin with! This obviously gets a lot depper than pennies (though I am sure I could make a whole post just about honest Abe) but I'm talking about situations going on in your life too-breakups, past work situations that have ended poorly, past friendships-whatever it is- it wasn't ours to begin with. It's all been a gift from God. And it served a great purpose during that time in our lives! God doesn't 'accidentally' place anything or anyone in our path so there is freedom in knowing that when He has closed a door and opens new ones--we can be thankful for the memories, use the lessons learned, and stop clinging to something that wasn't ours to begin with...

Blessing and  may it be a 'letting go of pennies' type of day :)

Dec 28 2010

2010 is almost a has-been

so my facebook friend kathy made up a cute little 'diddy' (i love rhymes so this made me extra happy!)

Well the year 2010 is almost past
But the memories will definitely last
Good and bad God was in them all
He carried His children who heard His call
The path has been set for the New Year ahead
...And we can see it clear with the light God shed
Don’t take your eyes off of the goal He set
If the blessings He has in store, you want to get

Would love to hear the highlight of your year~just post em here :)

Bring it on 2011

~Lauren
