I want to get more involed in church so I can work on the calling of Missonary work.

Awesome message it makes me stop and think what would happen if we fasted and prayed together for this great nation USA.

I pastor at Centerville Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA.  For Lent we are using a resource from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Faith Comes by Hearing Ministries that is helping the church members listen to the New Testament 28 minutes a day for the 40 days of Lent.  By Easter we will all have listened to the whole New Testament!  I have church members thanking me greatly for leading us into this ministry.  They are telling me they are learning a great deal from going through the New Testament again.

I just heard Francis Chan speak for the very first time on Saturday and a Faocus on Marriage simulcast at my church. What a powerful, awesome message! I too am going to get that book and read it in preperation for Easter!

Before Easter I started a fast of shopping for personal items like clothes and accessories.  When Lent started I felt the Lord telling me to continue for the Lenton season.  It is amazing how God can take the desire from you to want to go shopping.  I have a small prayer team and the reason I was starting to fast was for the people on my prayer list.  Thank you Lord.

I just heard you talk about reading the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan.

I recieved that book for Christmas just this last year, and I just hope that you get from it as much as I did. It really is an eyeopener, and Francis Chan has a way of putting things. It puts things into perspective, stuff we know but tend to take for granted or that we don't really think about.

Enjoy it...and I am anxious to hear what you think of it.

For Lent, my family and I have started recycling and composting.  It is a way for us to be more intentional about taking care of the land that our God created for and entrusted to us.  Taking the time to recycle is making us think about God throughout the day as we are intentional in this act.  We are all learning lot! On Easter Sunday, we are going to plant a garden as an additional act of celebrating new life.

i have never done anything for lent before... one of my friends contacted me and asked if i would be interested in joining him in a fast.. I thought yeah no problem... I was thinking I'll gladly give up my text messaging or something that i cant stand doing... He asked me and many others to join in and only have water to drink for lent.... no more coffee, milk, oj, sprite.. He went on to explain that there are so many people in the world that die everyday without water and we think of it as plain and boring. We have to add to our water to enjoy it. furthermore for every dollar we would have spent on drinks to donate that to a company that makes purification straws for people who don't have clean water... this has been much tougher than I thought. every time I find myself thirsty I become thankful to God that he has provided so much for me

I am 12 years old and I realize that fasting for 40 days could do some serious harm, so instead I will be not drinking anything but water to remind me when I am thirsty that I should not be thirsting for physical water but spiritual water. I hope to use this to prepare me heart for Easter.

I'm crazy busy, as we all are.  I can find excuses to go home after work and not attend church Bible study on Wednesday evenings, and another group meeting on Monday evenings.  I'm determined to attend these functions during the week, to make the effort and not find an excuse to not go.  I truly feel so much better when I go to these meetings and find they refresh my spirit.  Thanks for reminding us of what's important in our lives.

last year I went back to carring a wooden Cross again people have come along beside me and others just blow their horns as they go by. my walk is 18
miles and takes about 9 hours all prayers are greatly needed . My Cross wts. about 75 lbs. with a wheel on the back. Walking from Shelby,OH. to Mansfield,OH to the Kroger Store on Lexington ave.

13 years ago on Good Friday I started carring a CROSS; last year the LORD laid it on my heart to go back to carring a wooden Cross again. The walk is 18 miles, from Shelby,OH, to Mansfield,OH. to the Kroger Store on Lexington Ave. All PRAYS are needed. Others from my church have helped with this walks. This has struck a cord w/me reading through this page. I have been a christian a long time, but have never really 'fasted' anything i can recall. Reading through these pages and comments above have inspired me to do so. I know this sounds silly, but i LOVE my morning coffee (and sometimes even afternoon!) That's one time of my day i really look forward to - the first couple sips of freshly brewed coffee...really! SO....I am going to give up my coffee completely for 33 days!! I am. I am going to do it. I thought of it while reading through and decided that if i actually profess this publicly (even though you all don't know me) that it will help me to stick w/it even better! If i can do this one simple thing (although a big deal to me) to honor him and give him the glory every morning when i'm so craving that coffee, then so be it.....Happy Easter to our Savior!

I have a huge addiction to coffee. It soothes me, calms me and I feel that I cant function without it. I am going to give up coffee to prepare my heart and every time that I think about it or want it I will pray instead. God knows this will be what brings me to my knees for him as I will be thinking about coffee many times a day. To some it might be an easy thing to give up. But I truly rely on coffee.

Hi Lisa and Eric, I had a God thing happen a couple weeks ago.  Actually just after the KLOVE Friends and Family Cruise, I was talking to a friend about it and how wonderful it was, everyone praising and worshipping with all the concerts, and passengers and crew.  One of my all time best moments on the ship was at midnight at one of the jam sessions, we were on the deck above the pool singing and praising God, in the middle of the ocean, with the stars looking down on up.  I told her how it felt like "from my lips to God's ears" at that moment in time.  She reached out and got a book for me to read, saying it would become my next favorite book, Francine Rivers "Redeeming Love".  Another friend had given me the book, but I hadn't thought about it for a while.  It was one of those books you couldn't put down, but didn't want it to end.  When you were talking about books this morning, I thought of this one again.  It's pretty intense, but shows us how much He loves us and how much His love can overcome.  Lisa, I think you might like this one, but it is one for tissues and tears.

I just saw the video you posted of the people of Haiti. Chills went down my back! What an amazing testamony of what God does when His people "turn from their wicked ways and seek His face", for He will surely hear and heal their land! Thanks for the great uplifting stories you give everyday!

The only thing on my mind right now, is that I am absolutely addicted to K-LOVE...and I am not giving that up!   I will be fasting all liquids but water in preparation for Easter.  I love reading other's entries here, and sharing in the joy that God brings to so many people.  God bless you all!

My husband and I are very bad about eating out! We rather do Drive-Thru than cooking at home. We have a 10 month old and both work. Our lives are so busy!! I heard you talking about fasting this morning and thought... If I knew what to give up I may try it. Well... This afternoon I got home and looked over our checking account; there were about 10 charges from different fast food restaurants in it (cause we get lazy and don't pack our lunches) and that's when it hit me!!! WE MUST FAST ON FAST FOOD!!! I know it's going to be hard and it's going to require a LOT of praying and dedication. Thank you for bringing light over this important subject of fasting for the Lord. I honestly don't think I would've thought about it on my own.

I have been away from home for quite some time and have found the K-Love station in my rental car to enjoy every day to and from work.  I heard about this video and I pictured the stories in the Bible that talk about the Nations that turned their attention to God.  I was thinking that we (the USA) could / should do the same.  I am concerned that Christian voices are not heard as loudly as the voices that fight God and Jesus in our Schools, States, Courts, etc.  I get offended at the stories of others who are offended at our Prayer in School, crosses on our graves, Ten Commandments on a court stairway, etc.  How much effort would it take for the Christians of the USA to gather in His name and sing praises to our God?  Someplace where the whole world could watch on a video and know that we are not afraid or ashamed to lift our hearts up in prayer for our nation.  If we wait for a national disaster, we are too late.  I have just been thinking of this all day.  Had to find this site and post my thoughts.  Love to all and God Bless the World!

I have just had the Lord reveal to me that I need to fast my extra 30 minutes of sleep in the morning to get up and read my bible and do a study instead. Thank you Lord for revealing that.....

My goal for lent is simple, I'm fasting junk food, and trying to cut back on my pop consumption. Working towards getting a heathy body back. And then taking  this time when I'm craving these things to do the following:  I have a friend who is a Pastor. I pray on a daily basis for my friend, Nancy, but at the times when I'm desires for the junk food and pop, I pray specifically for her ministry. So I focus on God, and my friend is prayed for several times a day. Pastors need prayer and she's been getting hit hard lately so I'm covering my friend and her ministry both.

Hi my name is Kim Brune and I am from Evansville, IN. My Church here in Evansville IN, Bible Center Cathedral started doing the Daniel Fast on January 17, 2010. Our goal was to complete the fast for 21 days and those 21 days would lead us up to our 9 week disciple ship training that would prepare us for Easter. Once the 21 days was up I decide to continued fasting all sweets and soft drinks until Easter.
Since I started the fast and continued my part God has worked in my life and has spoken to me like I have never heard him before. He continues to show that if we are faithful he will always provide.  
Thank you all for always encouraging us to go above and beyond and challenging us to be better Christians.  

Our family took the word LENT and made an acronym....Let's Enjoy Nourishment Together.  We are seeking ways to nourish one another purposely.  We seek ways to spend time together as a family or with each other individually; laying aside our selfish desires to please our own wants and building up each other.  We are eating more dinners together, play games instead of watching TV and have worked to encourage one another.

Hey, I just wanted to share a verse that's important to remember during fasting...

Jesus says in Matthew 6:17-18 NIV translation "But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

I'm listening to the morning show right now, and I can't help but wonder why you are asking listeners to share their experience with their fast, when God's word (Jesus' words) explicitly says "to appear not unto men to fast." Matthew 6:16-18 -

"Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."

on the subject of the Easter faster. My daughter came in about 2 weeks ago & announced she was giving up soft drinks for lent. now we are not Catholic or Methodist but we do live sort of close to New Orleans & we also listen to KLove, she is 11. so i said ok. she wanted to know what i was giving up. so i randomly picked french fries. (which i do love)She is totally serious about this, & we go on a cheer competition trip to New Orleans this weekend. I receive a plate of food w/ the best lookin fries i have ever seen! im like, come on! but there she is, almost w/ tears in her eyes. so no fries for me! it was a very good lesson for me!

I have given up Facebook for Lent.  It was tough at first, but every time I think of it, or just want to go to Facebook to 'pass the time'....I read, pray or simply reflect on where I've been and where I need to be.  

My 8-year-old son, Gentry, really surprised me this year with his choice in what to give up for Lent!  He gave up his blankie.  He adores it more than anything else in the world...can't manage without it.  It is so well loved, it is practically in shreds.  However, he told me he decided that he loves Jesus more than his blankie and wants to show it.  He has cried on several nights or during times when he needed that extra comfort, but turned to prayer to help him get through.  I'm so proud of him!

Im 18 and i was praying this last week and Thursday God put on my heart to go on a fast until Easter. At first I didn't wanna do it but I decided to and each day he has taught me something new. Friday He put on my heart to pray for a friend and now just Saturday morning she came to know Jesus as her savior! Just that one moment has given me so much hope and reminded me that God isn't done working through me.

I just started Crazy Love too! I am also going to take on the task of cleaning up the kitchen after my roommates joyfully! Without question, or complaining!! Yay Jesus! Easter, resurrection, and life here we all come!

     But as a reminder to all of us Cristians, this is a lifstyle.          This verse is in the King James Amplified  Acts 24:16   Therefore I always exercise discipline myself ( mortifying my body, deadening my carnal affections, bodlily appetites, and worldly desires, endeavoring in all respects) to have a clear (unshaken, blameless) conscience, void of offense toward God and towar men.  This is what Jesus means fassting.

This is in reference to the fasting--I heard it when you first started in the beginning of the month & I was really tugged but didn't let go to follow through as I heard God telling me to.  I love romance novels & they have replaced just about everything that I read.  I have had some life issues over the past several years & satan has used those to put a big rift in my relationship with God-so my daily time with Him wasn't what it should or needed to be for a long time now---but I've been asking God for more, I want more--but I have all these barriers in the way--so--later than the beginning of the month I am fasting from my romance novels & choosing instead to read God-centered writing--my Bible, and other books that I've put on the back burner that I wanted to read at one point but never did.  I hope this makes sense to you as it makes sense to me in my mind.

The early church fasted every Wednesday and Friday!  I almost look forward to the season of Lent each year because it's like a long New Year's Eve for our spirituality - a time to rethink the ways we are complacent during the year.I gave up two things this year and it's been good - but hard.  But it's supposed to be! An athelete trains and sacrifices to be better. As the church I think we have forgotten the intense call Jesus has given us - to walk in HIs footsteps. It's encouraging to hear you guys talking about this on the air.

i recently over the last month started listening to k love..and ive hear alot about lent this past 2 days.. i discussed it with my fiancée and we have both decided to give up something and observe lent this will be our first time.. myself i have decided to give up lotter scratch off tickets he has decided to give up soda... it will be hard but i am sure we can do it
