Thanks for promoting dog adoption today! I have recently lost my 3 dogs - Kasay 9 years old, Archie 8 years old and Belle 14 years old - but I know God is taking care of them now and they are healthy, safe and happy until I see them again. Matthew 5:8

Please ask your listeners to give their pets an extra hug and love today. God Bless.

Hey Eric,  Love the picture.  Our dog would love to come to work with me everyday.  He follows us to the door and gives us that little whine everyday.  This just breaks my heart.

Such a sweet pic of you and your little buddy!  I have a beautiful, 4 year old Yorkie named Grace and she's always on my lap or right next to my office chair when I'm working.  (I have a home office - Blessed!)  Wishing there were more "Bring Your Dog to Work Days"!

Thank you for all you do at KLOVE!

OMG...Zack looks so sad.  You can tell he misses his momma. My dog sits on the back of the couch and stares at the door all day waiting for me to come home from work. Chin up Zack...she will be back before you know it.

My adopted stray cat had two kittens the end March.  My first litter to take care of, has been fun.  I gave the fluffy one Olive away and I decided to keep the little black one.  She is very excided after breakfast. Adopt and get your pets fixed to cut down on unwanted animals.  Thanks for all your music as I work the graveyard.

Lost 2 dogs and 4 cats in 4 years;  one of the cats was my mom's, that I took in after she died.  But, have 3 other cats to love and hug...one is another of Mom's.  Would love to adopt a dog, but was laid off from my job.  Hope that we see out pets in Heaven...counting on it! Smile   So, Eric, give Zack a hug for me!

Thank you for encouraging adoptions:  shelters and rescues, not puppy mills!  Smile

Blessings to you all at KLOVE!!!

Lisa and Eric - The following is for Dave of Harrisburg NC who wrote about recently losing his three beloved friends. It has brought comfort to me and I pray that it does the same for him.

The Journey
By Author Unknown
When you bring a pet into your life, you begin a journey - a journey that will bring you more love and devotion than you have ever known, yet also test your strength and courage. If you allow, the journey will teach you many things, about life, about yourself, and most of all, about love. You will come away changed forever, for one soul cannot touch another without leaving its mark.

Along the way, you will learn much about savoring life's simple pleasures - jumping leaves, snoozing in the sun, the joys of puddles, and even the satisfaction of a good scratch behind the ears. Your house will become muddier and hairier. You will wear less dark clothing and buy more lint rollers. You may find dog biscuits in your pocket or purse, and feel the need to explain that an old plastic shopping bag adorns your living room rug because your cat loves the crinkly sound.

You will learn the true measure of love - the steadfast, undying kind that says, "It doesn't matter where we are or what we do, or how life treats us as long as we are together." Respect this always. It is the most precious gift any living soul can give another. You will not find it often among the human race.

And you will learn humility. The look in my dog's eyes often made me feel ashamed. Such joy and love at my presence. She saw not some flawed human who could be cross and stubborn, moody or rude, but only her wonderful companion. Or maybe she saw those things and dismissed them as mere human foibles, not worth considering, and so chose to love me anyway.

If you pay attention and learn well, when the journey is done, you will be not just a better person, but the person your pet always knew you to be - the one they were proud to call beloved friend.

I must caution you that this journey is not without pain. Like all paths of true love, the pain is part of loving. For as surely as the sun sets, one day your dear animal companion will follow a trail you cannot yet go down. And you will have to find the strength and love to let them go.

A pet's time on earth is far too short - especially for those that love them. We borrow them, really, just for awhile, and during these brief years they are generous enough to give us all their love, every inch of their spirit and heart, until one day there is nothing left.

The cat that only yesterday was a kitten is all too soon old and frail and sleeping in the sun. The young pup of boundless energy wakes up stiff and lame, the muzzle now gray.

Deep down, we somehow always knew that this journey would end. We knew that if we gave our hearts they would be broken. But give them we must for it is all they ask in return.

When the time comes, and the road curves ahead to a place we cannot see, we give one final gift and let them run on ahead - young and whole once more. "Godspeed, good friend," we say, until our journey comes full circle and our paths cross again.

I love the pic. I would bring my dog to work with me, (I have a 18month old Border Collie) but it would not be a good idea where I work. I work for Johnson Creek Smoke Juice manufacturing the liquid for electronic cigarettes in a lab. Love the idea of bring your dog to work and of promoting pet adoption.
Also enjoy listening to your show and the great and uplifting music.

I work at a humane society and thanks for getting the word out about adopting a WONDERFUL pet...who, contrary to popular belief sometimes is broken or has been horribly abused or has behavioral issues that deem them "unwanted".  That is not the case!  A friend of mine from our adoptions department here is volununteering in Joplin for their adopt-a-thon this weekend - there will be over 600 displaced wonderful pets there just waiting for their new forever homes.  I encourage you, if you're in the area, and are in the market for a new family friend - stop by and save a life!

I'm happy to see your doggy. How crute!!!! however I'm very sad today, We are having to put our friend a 15year old poodle/terrier mix to sleep in the morning. She is blind and unable to hear very well and has lost control of her bladder and bowels. I know in my heart that I'm doing the right thing. But she's been there for me in the thick and thin of life. So has my Lord Jesus, been there. seems that she was the phyical part that I needed to many times just to hug and love on. Please pray for me and my family. I have 3 boys all under 3 years of age. Thank you, Bernadine

We tell people that God put a neon sign above our house that says 'All Stray Pets...this is your new home!' We have 4 dogs (the 13 yr old Golden Retriever is the only one we went to get, the others came and 'got' us) and no matter how rough a day is, when you get home and see how happy they are to see you, the troubles of the world melt away! Thanks for the picture-glad you 2 survived this week without 'mom'...

How cute are both of you in the picture. I unfortunately work in a hospital surgery depatment so they kinda frown on pets here but I've got my pictures up. I have 2 beagles, 7 month Tanner and 3 year old Tyler. February 14th we lost our 5 year old beagle Tucker to a traggic accident. Our hearts were shattered.I whole heartedly recommend pet adoption. My dog has been everything to me.  She has been through the worst with me.  The death of my mother, my son's addiction problems, but most importantly she found my breast cancer!  After surgery and during chemo I would take her for walks and I would want to turn around and go home but she would stop, look at me and then press on forward for a few more steps and then turn around to head home.  She always made me walk a little further than I wanted. She was my physical therapist too!

Although I am allergic to dogs, I LOVE them.  I had my dog for several years before I knew that I was allergic.  Even tho my parents now have Missy, my border collie mix, she is still precious to me and always in my thoughts.  During the first year of grieving after my sister passed away, Missy was my closest & dearest friend.  Whenever she would sense me sad or see me crying, she would come up beside me and wrap her right paw around my arm.  she would sit like that with me for as long as it took until I quit crying and cheered up!  Dogs have such a powerful ability to sense our emotions and connect with us on a nonverbal level.  Missy was exactly what I needed during that period of my life and I will always cherish having her with me and the blessing that God gave me through her!  I try to still visit with her as often as I can when I am home with my family.

My best friend is going through a divorce. They have had Rosie since she was a puppy, she's now 7.  Because of having to move to rentals, neither of them can keep her. We met in Denver, us from Kansas, my friend from Portland so that we would take Rosie home with us. Did I tell you she's a St. Bernard? Taking some adjustment by our dogs as well as Rosie, but couldn't imagine what could have happened to her if we didn't take her home.

I would have loved to brought my baby to work but employer kinda frowns on that. I Keats wanted a cocker spaniel and once my daughter was old enough and could help we got one over a yr ago and she is my second daughter.

I can't stand leaving her when I have to and probably take her to places I shouldn't but she is so adorable.

She did just get in trouble, though yesterday for chewing up my glasses but God is good and Blessed me with a new pair the same day. So she is out of the dog house.

Good Morning Lisa and Eric.  I have just recently discovered KLove on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (Salisbury), and I LOVE it! I heard about Eric's dog having separation issues because his wife is out of town.  My dog is exactly the same way!  If my husband and I go out of town, and we get someone to watch Sandy, then they literally have to pick her up and take her outside!  If I'm gone for just the day while my husband is home, she will not even come out of the bedroom.  Just wanted to throw that in and say "Hi" from Salisbury, MD.  Have a wonderfully Blessed day!

You mentioned a minute ago that someone commented on how dogs are a great picture of the unconditional love and forgiveness that God shows us. There is a book entitled "Lessons from a Sheepdog" by Phillip Keller. The lessons God taught him from his rescue nd relationship with of a Border Collie named Lass beautifully depict our lives before and after Christ.
Lesson 1  In The Wrong Hands
Lesson 2  Set Free to Follow
Lesson 3  Learning to Trust
Lesson 4  The Delight of Obedience
Lesson 5  The Test of Faithfulness
Lesson 6  Love & Discipline
Lesson 7  Available for Anything

A must read book for all dog lovers!!

P.S.  The needy-ness in your dog is the Cocker Spaniel in him.  Cockers are very devoted and are usually glued to their owner.  We take ours with us everywhere!

Listening in Madison and I couldn't agree more with the message to adopt from a shelter.  I got my dog 13 years ago and she's been a wonderful addition to my family.  Everyone who meets her falls in love with her.  My parents & gma consider her to be another grandchild :o )  The shelter I got her from said she was found dumped out in the country as a newborn puppy, left to fend for herself.  She has the most loving and obedient personality.  She just loves to be loved!  Anyone who is on the fence should just go to their local shelter and see.  Most shelters will let you spend a little time with the puppy/dog at the shelter to make sure that it's a good fit before finalizing the adoption.  For every dog adopted, you save two lives because you take one dog home and open space for another to be cared for at the shelter.
