Sliced Apples Recalled for Listeria

Sliced apples sold to McDonald's, Burger King and grocery chains recalled for Listeria. CBS NEWS 

Pre-sliced apples distributed to fast-food and grocery chains across the country are among packaged products being recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria bacteria.

Missa Bay LLC, owned by Ready Pac Foods Inc. of Swedesboro, N.J., announced the voluntary recall on Friday, saying a total of 293,488 cases and 296,224 individual units went to 36 states and the District of Columbia. People who may have purchased the recalled products are asked to record use-by dates and UPC codes and contact Ready Pac at 800-800-7822. More information on the more than two dozen products recalled and the states involved is available on the company's website.

Killed In Action

Three US special ops troops, Afghan officals say. NBC News

A man wearing an Afghan army uniform shot and killed three American Marines, the U.S. military command said Friday. Afghan officials said the victims were American special operations forces troops.

Reuters reported that an Afghan police commander opened fire on the service members after inviting them to a meeting to discuss security. A U.S. military official confirmed the three deaths and said another service member had been injured during the incident.

Man Falls Asleep on Airport Baggage Belt, Goes Through X-Ray. Good Morning America

A photo that appears to be of a man going through an airport X-ray machine is making the rounds on the Internet.

A Norwegian tourist fell asleep on a baggage belt at Rome's Fiumicino airport and traveled 160 feet before being identified by an X-ray scanner, The Telegraph reported.

The 36-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was due to check in for a flight to Oslo, but found no one on duty at the airline desk. He leapt across the counter and fell asleep on the baggage belt with his bag beside him, the paper reported. The man then traveled for 15 minutes through the secure baggage area before being spotted on an X-ray scanner by airport officials.
