From Flooding to Water of Life

Reflecting on 2011 this week, so far we have looked at Joplin's devastation and restoration as well as Gabrielle Giffords amazing story of love and strength.  Today we remember the horrible tragedy that took place back in March when an 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami hit Japan.  Villages, towns, cities, ports, boats and houses were destroyed.  Lives were lost and all of Japan was impacted.

Although there was so much destruction something great took place.  Several people and organizations stepped up, came together, just to help.  Among the organizations was World Vision, Compassion International and Convoy of Hope.  These organizations helped create several relief effort needs with fundraising, sending people and supplies.  It was amazing to see so many organizations come together to support one tragic cause.  We asked you to pray for everyone impacted by this tragic event and you stepped up in a big way.

"'Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,' says the Lord who has compassion on you." --Isaiah 54:12

In 2011 we discovered that every day over 4,000 children are dying of water-related diseases due to unclean drinking water.  We took this cause head on with Compassion's Water of Life, a safe water system that protects a child from life-threatening diseases for life.  With your help we were able to send out several thousand Water of Life systems.  It was a great moment for us in 2011 to see your response to such a great need.

We have shared two more of our highlights of 2011.  Share your highlight or your personal moment with us here or on Facebook.

Thank you for making 2011 such a great year, looking forward to what God is doing in 2012.
