What's the appeal of Farmville?!

You were mentioning being annoyed by the farmville postings on your FB. Just choose "hide" and select "block this application" and all postings from farmville will graciously be eliminated from your feed.

My wife and sister are addicted. I'm very happy to not see every farmville posting they make.

I know!  Farmville drives me crazy!  You can hide it though, so you don't see all the times your friends play it, then you can see other posts.

I just joined a group called "I don't care about your farm, fish, or your mafia." I felt wonderful!

Sorry I can't help you figure it out, as I'm with you guys! Like Scott said, you can't hardly find anything else, with all the Farm stuff! I just don't understand how people have that much time- I'm lucky if I have time to check my email and log onto facebook for a few minutes to see what's new. Can't wait to hear what others have to say- if there's a mystery, I'm uninformed too!

Hide the posts Scott and Kelli!! Click on the right hand side and when the "hide" appears.. click it. Then it will give you the option to hide the application! Enjoy facebook again without the posts! I like farmville... nothing ever goes wrong there! Doesn't even smell like a farm! Have a good night...

I think Farmville is so fun cause it lets you be creative with your farm, you can check out your friends farms, help your friends and there are ribbons you can get.  I enjoy it. It is kinda crazy that something so simple can be fun I think it is.

Farmville...

...lets you escape to a harmless world. People you wouldn't even associate with in real life, are somehow your friend on farmville!

...lets you own things you probably never would in real life! Ponds, horses, villas, penguins, are all available to you.

...lets your creative side come out. Amazing what you can do with hay stacks.

...lets you look forward to holidays like Valentine's Day where you get more cards and gifts than you probably have in years! Same goes for Christmas, you actually look forward to receiving gasoline for your vehicles! If only that could happen in real life!

I play several games on Facebook. Farmville is one of the first ones that I started with. It is neat to keep track of the crops and see how far u can advance. I am currently at lvl 36. another thing is watching the little animals move around on ur farm. Then see how creative ur friends have gotten with their farms.

I must say It seamed like a fun harmless lil game. But it became such that I had to be their on time for things that were not important! And I wasn't their for things that were more  important my family and my God! It became an Idol! And once I realized it I quit! It may be fun, but fun should never rule our lives like this game demands of people. It is addictive! Fight this addiction with the help of Christ!

Personally for me its something I can have as a hobby on down time from school and work. I am a mother of two sons 19 & 17 and work part time and am going back to college. I have what is called General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and this program lets me control what is happening and relax from the outside world. Also my mom and aunts and dad (Yes I said Dad... lol) play so this is something we can do together (per say) as a family spread over several states. 3 reasons for me that I really enjoy and use as a tool facebook app games like FarmVille.

It sure beats anything on TV, I've been playing for the last month or so and got hooked.  

I dont at all understand what all the buzz about farmville is but i can tell you one thing..Happy Aquarium is way better! Just sayin!!!

I DON'T GET IT EITHER!  WHAT IF 35 MIL PEOPLE WERE DOING SOMETHING REALLY CONSTRUCTIVE!  READ TO YOUR CHILDREN, SNUGGLE WITH YOUR SPOUSE, SPREAD THE GOSPEL... IF YOU REALLY LIKE "FARMING" WHY NOT GROW REAL SEEDS IN POTS THAT YOUR CAN REALLY SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS INSTEAD OF VIRTUAL ONES.  I DON'T MEAN TO BE HARSH, BUT I THINK THAT THE DEVIL INVENTED FARMVILLE TO BE A TOTAL WASTE OF PEOPLE'S TIME!

Yea, I never thought I would get caught up in video type games but yes, I am hooked.. It’s just kinda neat to watch your farm grow and be able to move things around and help out your neighbors.  I have thought about the time I spend on Farmville and I know that I should be giving God more time.  I have listened to the bible on audio as I am farming.  You should try it…

For me Farmville is a creative outlet after my children go to bed.  Sometimes I read, or paint (trying to paint the whole house, working on the master bath now), sometimes I play a game at night just to have some quite time to myself.  Right now my husband is deployed and it is nice to have something I can play with my family and friends to get rid the loneliness at night.  Everything in moderation.  It sounds like some people play it a bit too much or get to involved but I would think/hope the vast majority just add it in like they would a good book.  Just another outlet from our hectic schedules.

It's harmless unless other parts of your life suffer.  Otherwise it's a pastime and most people have one   I don't do farmville but I play games on the computer once on a while.  It's not any worse than watching T.V. which lots of people are addicted to or playing video games.  So... how many people watch American Idol and follow it with obsession?  Compare the numbers cause it has a pretty big following like farmville.

When I first joined Facebook I only logged on once in a while.  I couldn't figure out why every time I logged on I had 100+ gift requests from Farmville and couldn't seem to delete them fast enough.  I have to admit I was a little annoyed.  One day I actually accepted a gift and went onto Farmville.  I decided to try it and now I'm hooked.  I have 23 neighbors, I can visit their farms, fertilize their crops, feed their chickens, send them gifts, receive gifts, and see how my level and experience compares to theirs.  The draw for me is I spend a little while after work every day relaxing when I get home after a 10 hour shift and 2 hour commute.  I harvest my crops, plant new ones by deciding what crops yield the best $, decide how to spend my money, buildings, decorations, trees, animals, and whether to save it or spend it.  With the economy the way it is, I guess its fun to be able to see how much money I can make, save for a $1,000,000.00 villa, and spend as much money as I want on what I want and not feel guilty!  So it's my little escape.  I go there every day and it doesn't cost me a penny   

I am not a big farmville person but I love Cafe World. LOL I don't understand how to build my own farm but making a cafe is cool

I said the same thing for the longest time. Then my husband told me to just try it. Now he can't peel me away from it! I'm totally & completely hooked! I'm only on it like once a day so I'm not obsessed but I definitely love playing. It releaves stress for me...

I have played several of the Facebook games.   The only one that I really stuck with was Farmville.  For me it was a way to reconnect with old friends.  While there are people that are my friends on FB we might not communicate very much, but if we are both playing the same game it opens up the door for conversation.  Also,  there isn't any violence, nudity, or inappropriate content on Farmville.  Its just good clean fun.  It's a game that I don't mind my 8 yr old playing.

Oh, and for all the people that are annoyed by the notifications from Farmville and other apps.  Facebook is eliminating those within the next couple of days.  You will no longer be getting all of those notifications.

Hey, I'm hooked too.  I do listen to klove as I "farm" though!!  If that would be any consolation!!  After a long, hectic day, it is a stress-reliever, and it helps pass the time away.

I have to admit I play Farmville.  What I don't understand is why you can pet a pig but not a bunny!

Farmville is an app(also used to be on my-space) that allows it's farmers to get a taste of what us real farmers go through. but i must say.. it's NOTHING like having your own real farm. for one it takes much longer than a few hours or a couple of days to grow real crops, and they don't wither in real life if you don't harvest them within so many hours. and i saw a person earlier that asked ho you got a farm? for one a friend that plays farmville can send you a neighbor request or type in "farmville" in the search box. it should say "application" across from it. and also... it 82,513,966 monthly users on face book who play farmville. but COUNTRY LIFE is better!!!! hope i helped you!! =]

O.K., don't knock Farmville until you try it I wouldn't do it for a long time, but my daughter said if I just "became her neighbor" on Farmville that I didn't really need to do anything else. Well, I'm hooked on it and it's a lot of fun, but my kids complain about it (even though they are on it also). They say that I love FV more then I love them, but I assure them that's not true I do make sure that I don't spend to much time with it and you can plant crops that take 4 days to harvest, so you don't have to go on it everyday. There is a lot to do, so you have to watch out that you don't became a FARMVILLE FREAK....LOL (I wish I could get through to you on the phone, because I have a "Farmville Freak" ringtone that I would love to play for you!)

I can't believe I got through on the phone, but I couldn't hold too long, because while I get K love Radio here in Lincoln Ca. My silly cell phone doesn't always get service.I love you guys! I listen to Lisa and Eric on the way to work, and to you guys, Scott and Kelly on the way home. I'm in the car for about 40 minutes, and I can't think of anything else more important than to start my day and end my day with K Love.
Farmville... I don't know what the attraction is. I get so may fruit trees and livestock from friends and my children too. I tried to play it, and my son had to notify me that my crop of potatoes was dead. Can't do it! I am totally hooked/addicted to Bejeweled Blitz though... Darn that Face Book! I have no will power(

I have been playing Farmville for a few months now. I love it. Yes, it is addicting, but you really can't sit there for hours on end. If I look a head to my week and see I won't be able to tend to my farm for a few days, then I plant crop that take 3 or 4 days to grow. And each crop takes the same amount of time to wither as it does to grow. So if I plant a 4 day crop, I have a total of 8 days to harvest it before it withers.
My favorite part of farmville are the decorations! I love decorating my farm! I have decided that I will buy at least one decoration from each theme (Valentines Day theme, Chinese New Year theme etc) this year! I also love the animals! My favorites are the penguins and lambs. They are so cute!

PS. who's this pickle you keep talking about? I prefer you guys. You don't have to offer me any chickens, just keep doing what your doing.

The best thing Facebook ever did was give us the option to hide everyone's games, including Farmville. I like the social networking aspect of FB but I did not like the gaming network.  I understand that many people enjoy the games and that is great for them. I am just happy that now I can get into FB and check up on my friends and get out.    We can all be happy now.

Nothing. It's worthless. It is the most dumbest game on it. lol No offense to all of you farmville players and fans but it's really boring. all you get to do is plant crops and then wait a few hours for them to grow. That's it. But that is just my opinion.

There is NO appeal for me whatsoever...but my family, friends, and co-workers can't seem to get enough of it! I actually 'hide' it (along with ZooWorld, MyCafe, MafiaWars, etc) because I want to connect with people through realtime comments/conversation, not just read a pre-scripted status. Some say it's fun, others say it's relaxing. I suppose it could become an addiction like TV or video games, but for the most part I think its just good, clean fun; a way to pass idle time. I find it extremely annoying--that's why I 'hide' it!

FarmVille is the cyber keep up with the Joneses game.  Some people even pay real money to make their farm bigger. If you have a purple cow I would like it!!  The appeal of the game to me is I get to grow stuff and I am a gardener.  Also in order to do certain things there, like build a stable, you have to have help from your neighbors.  And in order to own certain things people have to gift them to you.  It is a good feeling to give someone an animal or tree that they don't have and see where they place it on their farm.  Also a draw for decorators and landscapers because it is a virtual landscape.  You could develop your own yard with ideas you get from others (meaning your yard in real life). This is a big one for the ladies!!  Shopping at the market!  Get the latest special, compare the profit you gain from certain crops, be the first one to have a certain decoration!  Now do you understand?

I did this once earlier today but think I messed up.  Scott, man, how are you and the family?  Miss your smiling face.  Just happened to catch Lisa this morning on KLOV,90.3 Fort Smith, AR where I have lived for almost 5 years.  Saw you guys were on FB as I am so checked out your website.  Called the station but just missed you.  Real nice guy answered and told me to call back little before 8 CT.  Are you in CA?  Is Lisa in Indianapolis?  You guys have a large network.  Oh by the way even though I will be 79 on June 18th my skin is still supple and all apendages are flexible.  Think the good Lord will keep me around awhile longer.  I have so much to do yet in serving.  Hope to hear one way or the other.

when I don't want to think of all the stressful things in my life I go to my farm. I can take care of my crops and animals visit with my friends with out having to really talk to anyone and for just a little while I'm at peace. It's great therapy and it doesn't cost anything. so for a little while I escape from reality and it's great.

you should just hide the the post. personally i dont like farms or any farm animals in real life so why would i want to play a game farmville?!?! lol im with you guys it gets irritating.

My 5 year old loves to play the games on FB (on my account) and I even got annoyed with all the gifts that were sent to me/her. But now I find myself keeping up her farm, cafe, and fish so she can continue to advance levels in the games, its funny but it helps me unwind and just have a little creativity, remodel and shop (for free!) after the kids are in bed. It's better than watching some of the shows they have on TV.

I don't understand Farmville, either.  After I finish my day as a full time nurse, college student, wife, mother of three, housekeeper and cook, child of God, I hardly have time for sleep, much less a virtual farm.  Thanks for directions to ignore the application.  Will clean up my FB page.  GOD BLESS

I must confess that I am one of "those" people that play farmville. To be honest I really don't know why it is so addictive. Maybe because now that I am no longer in school and I don't have projects to do there, and I don't have any kids, it just gives me something to do that is a sort of "responsibility", even though it does not carry the weight that the things in school did.

I think Farmville is pretty boring, but then, all my plants are gone, and probably my animals, too.

I don't understand the fasination with Farmville either......I don't hardly have enough time to keep everything going on my real farm much less keep up an imaginary one.

I farm in real life and as much as I love it, I don't want to be working it on Farmville!  But I have a lot of friends who also farm who love it, so go figure

My husband and best friend are hooked. My husband well be on his farm hours everyday, sometimes into the early hour of morning. They're both trying to get me to start my own farm. Yet I'm standing firm that I don't want to. I can see how it starts out as fun, but I just feel anything that takes that much of your time and focus away from God and family just isn't worth it.

I personnally hate those FB games and notifications. Like anything the FB games can be very addicting which, in my home, caused great resentment by me. I resented the fact that my daughter and her father played games while I cooked, cleaned, did laundry, etc. until the FB format changed. Now I have my family back because they do not like the new format.

I don't see what's so appealing, it's just a waste of valuable family time.

  I'm not a huge fan, but a lot of who I facebook with are, so I just quietly hide them.  I love what Ben Holty said.  You just "hide" them and "graciously" remove them from your view.

i love farmville. it reminds me of the summer that i spent on a farm with all of the animals minus the crops. my mom got me hooked on it. the reason i like to play it is because i get to help others with their farms plus i have found old classmates from high school and some other relatives. plus you can choose how often you want to harvest your crops from 4 hours to 4 days or just plow and let it sit there.

When farmville posts started showing up on my fb page I thought to myself, "What a waste of time." Then one day I just tried it and now I'm hard at work (LOL) "farming". I'm not quite sure what it is that keeps me coming back. It is quite baffling.
I don't worry about "keeping up with the Joneses" the same as in life for me. I like the small pink cottage.... Not that anybody cares ;) Just FYI.

There isn't anyone i dont know that either plays farmville or has a family memeber that does. i have all the way from my church members, choir buddies to co workers including myself and at one time my husband. the ages run from 60 yrs to 10 yrs old,, doctors to students. it is sooooo addicting; at one point i was on farmville,happy fish and petville, not any more, i was spending way to much time on that. you can waist a whole day because it gets so slow and you get caugth up in play, the only thing i keep was farmville and i am even backing away from that,, you find your self waisting so much time;it's sooooo easy. BUT it is so much fun too. so i quit some stuff and i am limiting my time, my husband quit playing because he was on it toooooo much, and that is my farmville story..

I play Farmtown once in a while... I must confess I did a lot last year.  I think it's just out of boredem and the idea of working a farm and not actually working it...lol...I don't know we are weird like that...and btw when I say we I mean the human race...lol...hey the Good News is that God loves us with our weirdness...love & blessings.

i used to love farmville alot but i got a new app that i love more it's tiki farm kinda like farmville but u dont pay for alot of thing so u get point faster and i like that.Also i like it because i pretend it's real so i check it like every hour or so i get depressed if i dont it makes my day to see wat i have accomplished in the farm. lol

I began playing Farmville when I first recieved internet and my family plays it.  I like playing Farmville because I get to go help out all my neighbors.  Besides, when I began playing it I thought of my dad.  This last year, in October of 2009, my dad died.  Almost every year that I can remember, he had a garden with the exception of this last year when he became ill.  Some day, when I have my own house, I hope to have a garden like my dad did and watch it grow.  Maybe I will grow tomatos like he did- his tomatos were the best things in his garden!

I find farm vile to be   rather annoying as it takes up time and distracts you slowly but surely then eats @ your Christian life .

The game notifications are just out of control... I don't have time to play nor do I want to read all those insane posts!!! It is a bit over the top.

I don't like seeing every posting of FarmVille and thats why when it asked me if I want to post anything I skip. Which everyone can do but maybe choose not too. I didn't understand it at first and now I am hooked. The challenge of earning points and money to buy things I think gets me. I like to shop and I can do it and not spend a dime of my own money. I can login on and look at my farm and and decorate it. Yes I will never visit it in person and it does not exist in real life but for that moment it's mine and I am not hurting anyone. Not too mention it's not a game that takes all your time. Five or ten min and I am off I don't have that many neigbors at the moment. Love to listen by the way...
