Healthy Easter!

Hip and Healthful Easter Tips

By Christine Avanti, Nutritionist and Real Food Culinista

1.  Pick up some bright colored plastic eggs from the dollar store and load them up with stickers, money, small toys, and popcorn.

2.  Easter candy anyone?  Buy dark chocolate with 70% pure cocoa which contains more antioxidants then blueberries.  Other delicious and nutritious alternatives include organic gummy candy or lollipops made with real fruit juice.  Try to avoid candy sweetened with high fructose corn syrup.

3.  Fill Easter baskets with homemade cookies made with all natural ingredients.  I have some candy and cookie recipes on my website.

4.  Mirror Kelli Caldwell’s family rule…kids can eat all the candy they want on Easter but it all goes away by Easter night.  I just love this idea because; the candy is out of the house and will tempt no one for the rest of the week.  Amen!
