Inspirational Kids

Hero boy, 4, dies after saving 3-year-old girl in pool. NBC News

The parents of Xander Vento, a little boy who was forced under the water while saving another child at a neighborhood pool in Fort Worth, Texas, earlier this week, say they are taking their son off life support.

Cris and Misty Vento released the following statement Thursday:

"We’ve made the extremely difficult decision to remove our precious son Xander from life support. We send heartfelt thanks to all of you who kept our family in your thoughts and prayers; we’re appreciative of your love and support.

We in some way hope our son’s life serves as an inspiration. He was the angel in the pool who sacrificed himself to save another. And now he continues to give as an organ donor. We were blessed to have such a kind and caring boy as Xander who set an example for all of us and even now he will be saving lives by giving of himself."

Xander, 4, held a struggling 3-year-old girl above the water, and after becoming exhausted, slipped below the water’s surface, the Associated Press reported. He was found at the bottom of the pool. After Xander was pulled from the water, rescuers did get a pulse from him, the Dallas Morning News reported, but he was unable to breathe on his own before they loaded him into a helicopter.

An incredible girl is teaching hundreds of thousands of Internet followers what courage means. Talia Joy Castellano, who turns 13 on August 18, was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer that forms in the nerve cells, in 2007. Just Keep Moving Forward

US runner breaks leg, finishes. The Journal Gazette

Manteo Mitchell felt the pop in his leg and knew it wasn’t good. “It felt like somebody literally just snapped my leg in half,” he said.

The American sprinter had half a lap to go in the first leg of the 1,600-meter relay preliminaries Thursday and a choice to make: keep running or stop and lose the race. To him, it was never much of a choice.

He finished the lap and limped to the side to watch the Americans finish the race and qualify easily for the final. A few hours later, doctors confirmed what he suspected: He had run the last 200 meters with a broken left fibula.

Thank you for having so much on your program. Just wanted to comment on the concert in our little town, Crescent City, CA. We had the Natalie Grant tour with Phil Stacy and Britt Necole in concert last night. It was a bendfit concert for a friend with cancer, and the house was packed out. All three gave such a message and blessings with songs.
Thank you for playing their music on your programs.

I am a junior in highschool, and i have always been very involved in my faith and my youth group. recently i have been struggling at school because my friend from school to accept religion. it has been very hard for me and i had started to feel pretty lonley. Over the weekend i went on this retreat with my church. My youth minister said something that was very touching. She said that "nothing can give you more love then christ. even if you persecuted he will always be there. Those who are hurting can feel his love deeper." It made me gain courage and it was just very touching. Even though this didn't happen on make a difference monday, my youth minister still made a difference in my life. she gave me hope.
