I have to agree with Scott on the In-N-Out burger ruling - as far as chains go. Nothing is better than a double-double animal style baby!

Gotta be Bill Thomas Halo burger in Flint, MI.  Try the olive on the burger.  A close second is the Burgerville, Tillamook Bacon Cheeseburger in Oregon.

The best burgers are from Kirk's in San Jose on Bascom. Big, juicy, made over a large BBQ pit. Then you add all the condiments you want. YUMMY!!!!

The best burger I've ever tasted is from this little place in Sacramento, CA called "Squeeze Inn"...Best burger hands down! The best part about it? The skirt of grilled cheese the cooks leave around this gigantic burger. It's an edible heart attack that's heaven in your mouth.  Yum!

I'm sure that all those places are good but if you want the best burger you have to go to Butch's Place in Kirby, Wyoming is the only way to go.
They have a buffalo burger and they are to die for!
