My sure-fire remedy (and it worked for all three pregnancies) make it to 4 1/2 months!  For the first 4 1/2 months I'm on the sofa in a fetal position; once I get past 4 1/2 month, it's over!

I am a mom with four kids ages 7, 11, 15, and 17. The only thing that settled my stomach when I was pregnant was Pringles potato chips. I tried ginger tea, ginger ale and other things but the Pringles worked! To this day whenever I get an upset stomach I eat Pringles!

I had very bad morning sickness until a relative told me what she took to help hers.  You take one half of a unisom and one half of a Vitamin B6 right before bed.  It worked for me and my morning sickness was so bad that I had to go the emergency room because of dehydration.  My doctor told me that it was perfectly safe, but you should always check with your own doctor.

I tried Zofran throughout my first pregnancy, it helped a little but not much.  By my second pregnancy I figured out that licking lemon slices and smelling them helped the most!

Sea Bands were my cure for morning sickness.  These wrist bands have a plastic button that pushes on a pressure point that discourages nausea.  Usually these are marketed for sea sickness.

Dramamine is the only thing that I could take 13 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter.  There were no medications at that time that my doctor could prescribe.  Evidently Dramamine soothes the gag-reflex, thus making my life tolerable. Smile

My wife deals with "SADS" --> Severe All-Day Sickness [and whoever dubbed it morning sickness did not know what they were talking about really].
It has been different with each child although Reglan and Phengran helped greatly.  Zofran made her too dizzy, which made her more ill...that being said, here are other remedies that made the sickness more tolerable.
1)An Herbal Chemo-Spray that works for minor nausea feelings.
2) Eating small plain foods with lots of protein regularly and keeping hydrated helped to keep the sickness at bay.
3)PREGGIE POPS!!! A friend gave us some Preggie Pops and they worked quite well.  You can get them on-line at many stores as well as at Babies R Us.  I would recommend them.
4) Having Grandma & Grandpa there to help.  'Nuff said there.

In the end, the kids are a blessing and we would trade them for the world!!!

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing!  Through God's sovereign will, there are many of us women out there who are struggling with infertility who would give anything to experience morning sickness.  There's an ache in our souls that only God can fill and heal.  Stories of others talking about their pregnancies can be so hard to hear....

I've found that Preggie Pops work pretty well! They keep queasiness to a minimum. Crackers, mashed potatoes,  and refried beans are mellow and easy on the stomach.

funny story ..i never got morning sickness until i found out i was pregnant...and then it wasnt to first daughter and my son i was sick alot ..but with my last pregnancy i wasnt bad...and i think no i KNOW it was purely intervention by GOD  himself ...i work at a job where you can only have 30 hr of unexcused sick time before your no longer able to get bonuses...and so being a single mom needing any money i can get...i prayed about being pregnant and God made it so easy for me...i didnt find out i was pregnanat until 4 months along , and by then i was already in the second trimester and i never had to call in sick once..just a night and it wasnt to bad...again with my pregnancys i dnt get sick until i find out im pregnant....GOD LOVES US AND WORKS EVERYTHING OUT FOR OUR GOOD!!

I probably qualify for my own mini study. I have been pregnant 13 times and given birth to 12 children. I've tried most of the tips I've heard you mention. I've learned it's even trial and error from one pregnancy to the next. A doctor told me to use vitamin K which worked great for some. But never use this in the 3rd trimester because of the blood clotting effect. Also if sickness is in the morning eat a little protein just before bed and have a snack before you get out of bed in the morning. Pregnancy is a wonderful thing, enjoy it.

Hi Kelly!  (Miss you Scott!)
After 3 pregnancies, I really believe it is trial and error.  God creates everyone unique.  So each pregnancy is unique!  With my first two babies it was FROZEN ORANGE JUICE BARS!!  I must have eaten hundreds!  LOL.  They were girls.  Then came a pregnancy 5-1/2 years later--God's special gift package!  Schweppes grapefruit soda!  I carried bottles with me everywhere  God's special gift was a son!

I took 200mg of vitamin B-6 per day, and ate a high protein diet, especially breakfast. Prepared peanut butter crackers and put them next to my bed at night so I could eat them upon waking, before any other movement. Eating protein immediately upon opening my eyes kept nausea from starting most of the time. Once nausea started, nothing helped. Tried not to let stomach get empty throughout the day.

I had hyper-emesis with all four pregnancies: violent illness from 6 weeks to delivery, all day long.  The cure?  CHILDBIRTH! My husband says I laughed for joy through each delivery, anticipating being able to eat and keep it down finally!

my problem when I had morning sickness (ha! lasted all day long!) was that I constantly had a gagging feeling in my throat.

what worked for me to was to take Sucrets to numb my throat.  numb throat = no gag!  YAY!

I was hospitalized 3 times for dehydration with my morning-noon-and-night-sickness with my twins way back when  Smile
The remedy the doc finally told me: warm deluted chamomile tea with a ginger candy as a stir "stick" as it dissolves.
Then when the twins had cholic for the first 4 months, and I was just sitting and crying with them (help was no where to be found, parents had their own health thing going on, etc)...UNTIL he told me to dilute chamomile once again, no ginger candy, NO HONEY, but a touch, only a touch, of corn syrup.  The twins drank it, and their little eyes closed so quickly.

My hubby says the only cure for morning sickness is to stay away from him and his assorted "smells"!

Ginger worked well once, lemon and tea another time.

One quick funny story - one time I did not know I was pregnant - UNTIL I was in a job interview...I went to answer a question and morning sickness reared its ugly head violently, spewing thru my fingers as I ran out of the office, secretary pointing the way to the restroom.  I came out after several minutes to find the secretary standing there with my briefcase and purse, asking if I was okay.  I knew I didn't need to call them back nor did I expect a call from them...and my expectations were spot on.

I am 12 weeks pregnant with our first child and so thankful to the Lord for blessing us with this miracle. After trying for several years and after several miscarriages, I am so grateful to be able to experience the misery of all-day sickness for a full first trimester! I have found that different "cures" work from day to day-sometimes sprite, sometimes saltine crackers, sometimes preggipops...and sometimes nothing works. But I am loving every minute of it, always remembering to be thankful for the blessing of this child. It's worth anything and everything to experience the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth. Thank God for His faithfulness!

When I was pregnant, I didn't have morning sickness but I was very naseous for the first trimester. All I could eat was Ramen noodles, that was the only thing that was easy enough on my stomach that I didn't get naseous. Also there is a restaraunt here called Carino's and they serve bread before your meal, it's like chips at a mexican restaraunt. There was something about that bread, I don't know if it was the herbs that were on top or not but it always soothed my tummy.

Pregnancy is definitely a blessing, even if you are feeling sick, but please don't judge women who struggle with severe morning sickness (hyperemesis) like I did. I was very thankful for being pregnant, but it was very scary because I could not eat or drink anything for weeks, without throwing it up. I tried everything and nothing worked! Severe morning sickness can actually be life-threatening to the mom and the baby. Please visit They are a wonderful organization that does research and supports moms with hyperemesis! Please remember that women with hyperemesis still want their babies and still pray to feel better, but that doesn't always happen! Blessings!
