See You at the Pole--share your story!

Today was See You at the Pole day and thousands of students around the country gathered around the flagpole at their schools to pray. What happened at your school? How many people gathered to pray? We would love to hear your story!

i am the president of FCA for my middle school. it started to POUR after we got there. so we went under the overhang and started singing some worship songs somebody put together. and when we sang the line "our God is greater. our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other" it stopped raining and there was a beautiful sunrise. and it stopped raining just long enough for us to pray. it was amazing and i could just feel the presence of God over us.

I go to Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Virginia. We are the largest high school in the county with about 2800 students. Their aren't alot of open christians at our school until this year when God placed it on my heart that he was going to bring change through his son Jesus Christ. I am one of the presidents in our Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle. Last year there were 10 people at our first meeting, and this year 85 people came and heard the gospel. SYATP last year we had about 10-15 students and this year God brought about 30. Its so awesome to know that God is at work in our school & is using me to help out! I am so looking forward for what is to come at our school! God is GREAT! Amen? Smile

I participated in See You At The Pole today! I am a freshman at Regan High School in Winston-Salem, NC & we had a great turn out! There were about 30 people when we began and we sang some songs. By the time we wrapped it up, 130 people were together in prayer around our flag pole. It was so great to see how many people there are at my school that love Jesus!

Today at my school we had a great turnout of about 50 people. My youth minister came and jammed Christian rock/ pop music and we all had a great time. Then, a senior played guitar and we sang Mighty To Save, How Great Is Our God, and How He Loves Us around our flagpole, which, by the way, didn't have a flag. Then we all went around the circle and prayed for various things like our teachers, peers, and for us to shine the light of Jesus on our school. I have to say this was the best SYATP I have ever been to.

We didn't realize this was early this morning. I thought it was at noon. I got 2 of my friends to come outside with me. I saw my principle coming so we just stood by the front door and Ana, Nat and I prayed for anything we wanted. Vollyball, my upcoming church trip and for Ana to sing well at her church sevice. A wind blew through and it really felt like God was there with us! It was amazing and I truly felt he had heard us.

My eight year old son led a prayer at his elementary school this morning. As a mother, I was unbelievably proud of my little man. His five year old sister prayed right along side him in front of the fifty or so kids and teachers that were there. I was moved to tears by those sweet darlings standing up for God in a world where it almost seems taboo to do so.

I am at The United States Military Academy and over 50 cadets and Chaplains came out this morning. It was awesome to see soo many cadets running to make it on time TO PRAY!! We sang our National Anthem and recited the Pledge of Allegiance with more conviction than ever for we know that to pray for our classmates and school is to pray for the officers and nation of tomorrow. With that many Christians beside me and the Lord in my heart, whom shall I fear?

It was great sharing another year of see you at the pole today. Our school is small so there were only about 15-19 of us to show up at 7:15. We don't even have a flag pole, so we use a rolling volleyball pole each year. After each of us prayed we sang 2 verses of Amazing Grace. Regardless if we have a pole or not it's still a wonderful experience to gather around with your friends and send up prayers to God. I'm a senior this year so this was my last time being able to participate in it. I'm just glad I was able to be a part of it one last time.

My daughter's name is Danielle and she is eight years old and is currently in the 3rd grade. She attends Centennial Elem. in Lubbock Tx. This morning she attended see you at the pole at school. She was both exited and nervous and she was the only student who attended in a group of about 20 staffmembers. She prayed out loud for her school friends and all the teachers. Danielle loves the Lord and and when she gets a chance she talks about Jesus to her friends at school. I thank God for her and I believe He has big plans for her as well.

Today was my first time participating in SYATP. I went with my friend and was amazed at how many people in my school were actually Christian. Including me, there were 14 people: 13 students and one teacher. I was happy to see that I was not alone in my beliefs. We took turns going around the circle and praying about what ever came to mind. When we stood there, some students stared and sort of laughed, but we didnt care. We wanted to show them who we were. I was glad to be able to share my beliefs in school for once. I also learned that this same group of students gather every wednesday to pray, just as we did this morning, before school. I will deffinately be participating in that, as well as SYATP next yearSmile

I am in college, but I was able to go to my high school this morning for See You at the Pole. It was truly a blessing. My high school is a private school and therefore they can actually have a SYATP program during school hours. The students don't just meet before school, but the entire school (K5-12th) gathers in the gymansium. The FCA group is in charge of organizing the program and this year was really good. I could definately feel God moving! There were guest speakers, some kids did sign language, some did a black-light skit, some sang, and others prayed. In the end the whole school circled around the flag pole, prayed, and ended with a song. It was very inspiring and I know God touched many lives. I'm very proud of my high school and those who participated!

At North Kingstown High school in Rhode Island, we had about thirty kids gather around the flag pole. We were out there for fifteen minutes before the bell rang. It was comforting to know that there were many fellow students in this public school who shared my faith. It just gave me a good feeling inside that helped me get through the day.

I went to See You at the Pole today at 7:30 just me. And I just sat at the flagpole praying for all my lost friends and teachers as well as praising Him for the ones that are believers. And as all my peers walked by me just sitting on the ground praying I was overcame by a peace of not caring what anybody thought of me. The whole half hour it was only me and three other staff members that came for a couple mintues and left. I started crying my eyes out from what all has been going on in my school and from what the Lord has saved me from. All in all, it was a wonderful expirience and I can't wait to do it again next year! Smile Thank you Lord! <3

I am a high school Senior. On Monday morning everyone arrived at my high school to be faced with the news that late Sunday night a fellow classmate decided to end his own life. This particular boy was well known by so many people at our school and had touched so many lives. The whole school was devastated. It was so refreshing to be able to come together around the flagpole this morning to pray for his family, other students, and our school as a whole. In years past we have had about 10-15 people gather around the flagpole but this morning we had close to 50, if not more. It was nice to see students come together after such a shocking tragedy and take a stand for Christ.

I went to SYATP today for the first time and it was great. I got there and my youth pastor was their to pray with us. We got in a big circle and when anyone felt they had something to share they just prayed out loud. All  the prayers was a great way to start my day and just put me in a better mood. I continue to pray that everything we prayed for will come true and all the sin and hatred in our school will come to pass. I also pray that next year we have more students because 40 out of 2000 is just not enough. That made me realize that we need to try harder to bring all the students at my school, El Diamante High School, to christ because he is "the way, the truth, and the life".
         Bless you guys and amen.(:

I am a mom of freshmen twins.  I want to say how proud I am of them and all the kids across our country.  These students did more than many adults could ever do.  As I dropped them off there were about 15 other students there already.  This is public high school!  What a witness!  God bless our children and protect them as they shine as stars in the universe, claiming God's love and their faith in Christ Jesus.  When I asked my son about how it went, he said "it was good, neat, a little awkward."  I couldn't have asked for a better response.  Sharing Christ with others, being a witness for Him can sometimes be all those things, especially for a teenager.  Yet despite all of that, they did it.  They prayed for their principal, teachers and classmates.  Amazing.  May I be as bold and true as my children.

Our high school FCA group initiated the meeting at our school's flagpole this morning. It was just awesome to see how many kids showed up. At our public high school, there were 86 of us circled up when we began praying. By the end, we had passed the 100 mark! (over 10% of our student body!) We could definitely feel God's presence as we prayed for our school and community. It was a powerful thing to see some of the faces that showed up, which included a few people who have been bad-mouthing FCA. It was a great feeling and an excellent way to start off our day.

I go to a o'connell middle school in colorado I'm in 7th grade. The other night my dad recived a text message about the flag pole prayers. That night I was thinking if I should. when I got to schoool in the morging I followed my heart and did what god would want me to do. well I was walking toward the flag pole and didn't see any kids. I sticked on what I said I was going to do and just stood by the pole prayed about all the teachers, kids and there families. knowing that god will let all the kids and teachers learn about god.

I'm a Senior at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, North Carolina. Today was the best SYATP out of all of the four I've attended throughout high school.  We had about 40 people praying together underneath our flag pole bright and early this morning.  It was amazing to see how many people took a stand for Jesus Christ.  This included a very diverse group of students, but it made me happy in my heart to see different kinds of people come together for one common goal on one early morning.  I can't wait to see the light that we will continue to become in our school.

I am 13 and homeschooled, so i did not necessaraly get to participate this year. but i have in years past and think that it is an amazing thing. i went to school in washington state from 1st grade to 4th grade. as far as i remember, we did this every year, and it was great to see people like me gathered around and praying, especially since i went to a public school at the time. now i live in california, and am homeschooled because the shcool schedule did not meet our needs when we first moved here considering that my dad is in the air force, and was coming home from korea the day that school started. it is still an amazing experience, and i hope that i will once again be able to participate in it next year for highschool.

So I'm in college and have morning classes so i didnt get to go to my old high schools cyatp but the whole time i was remebering my favorite yr tht we did it.  It was my senior yr my friends and i brought our guitars down and we all pryaed and then we sang and in the background you could see all of the Principals who were not actually allowed to participate in the event, standing with their heads bowed and when we were playing their lips were moving and they were swaying and it was really encouraging.  A few days later in the mail we recieved cards from our principal saying how proud of us he was and how God was really making a difference in our lives. I was really lucky to go to the high school tht i went to,  my friend got to start and i got to help lead a prayer group, it nvr worked out tht we had a room to stay in which was ok bc we got to pray in a big corcle in the middle of the hallway and some kids would always stop by and join in and the teachers loved it especially the one tht ran a youth group tht met at the school.  Also we got to have my senior project at my school which was a christian concert to raise money for my church's building fund to help build us our new church, after tht event we recieved another letter from our principal who showed up to tht as well saying once more tht he was proud of us.  I am so sad tht i couldnt make it to cyatp but hearing everyone elses stories just made me think of tht yr and all of the other great things tht happened tht yr as well.  Unfortunately while i was talking to a classmate tht day i saw on the builetin board tht a young adult youth group at my school actually did a cyatp and i had just missed it!! So at least i will know for nxt yr so i will not miss another one!!!

I went to meet me at the pole and there was no leader from the church that was so post to come and there was only 7 of us students.we prayed and then 3 of the students went to the other campus to see if the leader had shown up at the other campus by mistake. they didn't find one but they did find some 6th graders and some dads. we told them that we were at the other campus and they said they would come with us we prayed again and when we finished there was over 25 students and parents and I now understand that if you have faith and know that God will help you.You don't ever need to wait for something or someone go and stand up for your Creator!
