"God's judgement on Haiti" -Response

I am sure you have probably heard all the buzz about some of the comments being made regarding the earthquake in Haiti and how it was God doing this to judge Haiti for their voodoo and some so called ancient pact made with the devil. Many of your friends may have commented on these statements, and maybe you have wondered what to say, or how to respond.

Kelli and I had Pastor Lance Hahn on with us the other day and he addressed these statements.  We have had many requests for what he shared, so we are posting it here for you to listen to and share if you would like.

Pastor Lance Hahn on the Haiti situation (AUDIO)

In regards to many of the comments that have been made; I believe that is a reminder that the world is watching us as believers.  We are called to be Christ's ambassadors, and to be the very instrument that He uses to show His love and mercy for others.

I have been frustrated by this incident, but must admit that in my prayer time, God reminded that His grace must be extended to everyone, especially those who frustrate or anger us.  I must admit that I, too, have made statements that were less than kind, but this has helped me realize the power of our words, and how damaging they can be.  My hope is that God will help us all learn through this, and  make us aware that we have a high calling, may our words and actions show the world the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Thank God that He forgives for the slips we make along the way, may our lives be lived to His Glory in all that we do and say!

In Christ's Love,

Haiti Needs Your Prayers...

Find out how to help Haiti

This morning I called my friend Will McGinnis from Audio Adrenaline to check on him and the orphange that they run in Jacmel, Haiti.  He said that he is thankful that everyone at the facility is OK, but the destructuion is overwhelmming.  Audio Adrenaline Mark Stuart and his family are there right now and Mark sent this email this morning.

Hi everyone.... Our internet is working finally. So I'm sending this to a few of you.... Everyone here is ok, but we are all very scared. The buildings held up great, but there are several houses right around us that have collapsed. Also, Hotel Cyvadier had major damage, while the brand new three story "peace of mind" hotel was demolished. Francine, one of our teenage nannies was in afternoon school and escaped while the building was collapsing around her because she was sitting by the door...however many of her classmates died yesterday. Many houses and and buildings have collapsed in Jacmel including the hospital. I know most of the news there is coming from PAP, but there is substantial loss of life here on the south coast. We need prayer for wisdom and strength. Its very chaotic here. We were able to buy diesel this morning and hopefully get more propane for cooking tomorrow. Last night was crazy...slept on the dirt in the center of the village...away from the buildings. Tonight we may venture back indoors, but that is yet to be decided. We go in and out to get necessities. The Haitian people are numb and sad to say very used to death, but this has created what seems to be a hypnotic state. I've never been in a situation were you feel SO helpless, fearful, and small. The tremors are coming again as i type this. Whoa!!!

Thanks so much for praying for Haiti and all those that God has there to minister to those who are hurting.  Please continue to pray!  I am also sharing a video from Mark and Will so that you have an idea of what God is doing through the Hands and Feet Project.  God Bles You, Scott!

New YOU in 52 Week 1 Tips!

If it's you're goal to take better care of the body that God gave you.  New YOU in 52 is a chance to learn something new every week that will help you stick to your resolutions and reach your goals.  Nutritionist Christine Avanti shared some great tips with us this Friday.  Here is what she says about a great place to start!

1) Clean out your pantry and fridge of any foods that have more then 10 grams of fat per serving. Also remove any foods that are high in preservatives i.e., package foods such as Ramen noodles, sugar loaded cereals, soda, juice, frozen pizza, ice creams etc.

2) Grocery shopping tips: a) Healthful carbohydrates: buy fresh or frozen fruits and veggies that are in season such as apples, oranges, grapes, squash, artichokes, sweet potatoes, bok choy and broccoli. b) Healthful protein sources that won't break the bank: whole chicken, frozen shrimp and low fat cottage cheese.

I sometimes pour Hershey's Chocolate Syrup on my Mini Wheats. Totally soak it with chocolate, sometimes I add caramel sauce, too. SO GOOD. But so bad for me. LOL Smile

I am going to guess that chicken fried steak is one of the worst, although the tastiest. As far as a breakfast weakness I have, pancakes with peanut butter and maple syrup. Won't eat em any other way.

My guilty splurge is the Starbucks Venti White Chocolate Mocha with 2 Extra pumps of vanilla syrup & the bacon artisan sandwich (bacon, egg & guda cheese on artisan bread). I know it's totally bad, but I try not to do it often.

This past weekend a group of us spent a couple nights at the resort at our Hot Springs here in Alaska. Amazing weekend btw! Smile on sunday, my best friend and I didnt have time to go to the resturant for breakfast, and so, since ice cream is our main food group (no joke), we decided to each have a Toll House Chocolate Chip cookie sandwhich with a White Choc Carmel Mocha (with an extra shot!)! i must say.. it was the most amazing breakfast ever! Smile we figure we might as well get away with it while we are still young! (she's 20, and im 19!) hehe!

my slurge is sometimes left over cold pizza dipped in ranch..yum Or cinnamon roll french toast from black bear diner. The worst I seen in my household was when my husband made a big bowl of coco pebbles and added hersey kisses to it..yuk. My healthy delight lately is frozen fruit like blueberries, strawberries or melon inside yogurt with a glass of cold fresh orange juice. My guess is that "tv dinner" breakfast would be on the worst list.

I don't have it too often, but my guilty splurge is what I had this morning - a Frisco Breakfast Sandwich from Hardees. It's ham and scrambled egg and two different kinds of cheese on Texas Toast, and I think they basically marinate the whole thing in grease. LOL

So I heard you guys talking about the breakfast pizza from Domino's and I have to say, I agree with Scott!! That sounds sooo good!! But I wanted to let you know about a recipe I saw yesterday morning that's kind of along the same lines. It was a recipe for oatmeal, with a sunny side up egg on top! I may have to try it!!  Have a great day!!

Karen, you hit that nail on the head. We have been digging our graves with our teeth for so long. I couldn't agree with you more. It's a pity that as God's people we don't place much emphasis on gluttony or overeating which causes most of our sicknesses and other weaknesses. So much bad can be attributed to what and how much we eat. We need to wise up.

Pancakes with lots of chocolate sauce but I'm a teen an we can get by with eating like that.

I would have to think those cream cheese stuffed pancakes at IHOP can't be good for you but they do look so yummy! My aunt used to fry bacon and then cook fried potatoes and fried eggs in the bacon grease (in ALL of the bacon grease!). Talk about clogged arteries! The eggs would literally float in the grease! My favorite splurge is my late grandma's buttermilk pancakes with lots of butter and warm maple syrup! Love you grandma!

I would have to think that the cream cheese filled pancakes can't be very good for you but they do look so yummy! My aunt used to cook a whole pound of bacon and then fry the potatoes and eggs in the same grease....ALL the grease! The eggs would literally float in the grease! Talk about clogged arteries! My favorite splurge would have to be my late grandma's buttermilk pancakes with lots of butter and warm maple syrup...Mmmmmm. To make it really indulgent you could add a fried egg to the top like my dad does!:O Love you grandma!
